KonMari 2018 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

I didn't get around to go to the charity shop this weekend. I might go later this week.
I have a clock, a black skirt, a cat ornament, a grey jumper, a shirt and some hangers so far in the bag.0 -
I took 3 large and nice unmarked trumpet plant pots to the re-homing section at the tip, I did dither but have far too many pots and I also took 6 bags of old plants and dead soil. Garden is far far easier to manage since doing the kondo magic last year
Allotment for me too, again today. I sleep like a log after being out in the fresh air and sun, trouble is that I want to go to bed far too early0 -
Kittie - I'm gradually getting rid of my pots too - they take so much time and effort. They are mostly going by attrition - one of my camellias has turned its toes up for no apparent reason so won't be replaced (they're all in pots as I have clay soil). I've also got rid of the 5 hanging baskets that I used to put up across the front of the house. A pot of miniature daffs will be emptied and the daffs planted in the garden. Slowly and surely!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Me three, !2 large pots gone here.dh always said we should get rid of some and I feel sure he's up there smiling.
1 had small hydrangea in that's gone in a bed now, the other had a tree planted by the birds, I have no need of any more trees, so never put in the ground but it wasn't doing well as its got bigger, so regretfully it's gone.
A large hebe globe one, had gone leggy and I'd cut it back it was sprouting but I decided to get rid, then I've moved a pieris into its place, and a red Robin where the pieris was.
So after 5 hours I'm crackered. Just had hot shower and taken some ibuprofen, now sat with a latte with a heated wheat pillow on my back and the cat on my knee.
Green bin full to the brim!Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
I am now on another Kondo sweep...going deeper still. :rotfl:
Last week I did my wardrobe, 3 Black bin liners out, plus A pile of books and some CDs.
Today I made a start on the kitchen. I have piled everything I no longer want on the dining room table. The boys can have first pick. Anything that is left will go to the charity shop. I have still got some more cupboards to go but that will do for today.
I have also sorted out a load of costume jewellery that can go. Just having a cuppa and then going to sweep the books again and a couple of drawers in my bedroom. I will pile that lot on the spare bed for now because I need to take garden rubbish to the recycling place tomorrow. Then I can take the stuff on the bed to the charity shop later in the week.
It is a mammoth task but I am getting there slowly.0 -
I have been looking at the garden today. I too have decided to get rid of most of the pots this year. Too much work and they seem to make the garden look cluttered.
Less is More.....:D0 -

That made me smile, don`t we all do that, overwork to the point of aches and exhaustion. I had to have a hot bath after my session yesterday and woke up aching but it wore off and haven`t I gone and done it again. More time on the allotment, then a part broke on the plastic shed door, I went a round trip of 10 miles to Bn Q. Grabbed screwdrivers, oil, screws and spent ages getting a new part on, why oh why hadn`t I oiled the shed moving parts, it didn`t cross my mind.
Wort and LL and silvasava are making me think. I did have lots of pots, still have too many, nice ones salt glazed but the smaller pots do take more work and yes can make a garden look cluttered. I am going to sleep on this and may well get rid of the smaller pots, it might be at the end of summer but then again if I fill them then I have to also get rid of soil and the ordered bedding plants can go on the allotment anyway. One of those difficult decisions, I won`t regret it afterwards but it is the physical act of letting them go0 -
Hello fellow KMers, after yesterday's mammoth trips to the dump, today I've simply taken two black sacks of towels, sheets and downie covers to the Red Cross shop. I've been there so often lately that the manager remembers I'm a non tax payer therefore can't gift aid my donations.
The only thing else I'll do this evening is weed out duplicate pairs of knitting needles. My sister is coming to see me on Easter Monday, and she'll get first dibs - what she doesn't want will go off to the CS.
Agreed re pots. They need a lot of watering during the summer. I'll be rehoming most of mine when I move.0 -
Weemidge - I'm not a taxpayer but DH is so I put everything in his name - after all some of the donations belonged to him and others he paid for - that's my reasoning!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

my area air ambulance has just sent me their latest magazine, I see that they have clothes banks, so that is where all my clothing will go from now on. We never think we will need them, until we do and it costs £3000 a flight, a lot to find for a charity I have given such a lot to the hospice shop, even the gift aid letter specified a big amount of re-claimed tax but that hospice shop, salved my conscience re all I have given away.
I slept and had a think about garden pots, they were expensive but did me proud for 13 years, some will be re-homed at the end of the week, to stand in the re-homing space at the tip. 4 of them and three already stand here forlornly, in a group and empty, Just a question of pick up and take. I will have to find allotment homes for the ordered plants but I will
I had 43 salt glazed pots when I started MK. I am down to 29 right now, 4 more will leave in a few days. I am leaving 7 very large pots containing trees when I sell. I actually only want to take 9 of the remaining heavy pots, they are all fairly large, some low and wide and perfect for japanese acers. I will additionally have 5 containing dwarf lilac trees, all the same variety and very easy care, in the same trumpet shaped pots. I will see how it goes with them this summer0
