Thanks! I'm not really being sneaky :o she knows it's coming.

Currently focussing on tidying up, either side of posting on here, in case I need to take emergency overspill from her house guests this weekend (all family members - and I won't really need to, but she has such adult attitudes to things like this, it puts me to shame :D).

I have ordered three new silicone baking sheets so I will chuck the old baking trays away. A charity shop definitely wouldn't want them! I might throw away a pan that my husband burned recently as well. I will look through the whole cupboard actually to see if there is anything else we don't use or need.

    :) Nice one, Karmakat.

One of the things (or, more correctly, groups of things) from my late Nan's bungalow was a bagful of small pocket diaries. Dad went through them months later and they were all things like who was on the flower rota for the church and things like that, and he was able to discard them.

One of them had stuff related to the short illness of my Grandad, before he died, and he has elected to keep that one.

:o I am ridiculously happy to report that I have finished the bottle of Klear floor polish. It moved with me to the flat-before-this-flat (came from Mum, orginally) and is 20+ years old. Used the last of it this morning, rinsed the bottle and it's dripping dry before recycling. Also, a bottle of cream cleaner, ditto.

:jMore space in the undersink cupboard, yay.

Weather is unpleasant here (snow showers) so I'm leaving my allotments (have taken on a second, half-sized plot this week) to fend for themselves and concentrating on the Dark Arts (of Domesticity).

    Today's mission;

    1. Dealing with the branches of rosemary shrub given to me by a plotholder, which have been drying out in my living room. Ditto a quantity of sage.

    2. Vacuuming up that and other mess.

    3. Darning a hole in one garment.

    4. Tidying in general, as stuff every which way.

    5. Slaughtering one of tht giant butternut squash I grew last year and making a vat of soup.

;) That should keep me out of trouble for a while.

Cold wind and snowing here too. Doing some admin kondo as new water rate and council tax bills have arrived. DH is 75 this year so qualified for free TV licence - joy was short lived as the council bill has taken half of it! we'll see whats left over the next few weeks :(

Just got rid of the remaining old kitchen units (faceb00k) sale - was reluctant to junk them as they were handmade, solid wood ones and super sturdy, but (after best friend took lots for her utility room) it wasn't a full set of kitchen units (still really good for a utility room though - and superb quality) - anyway, they've now gone and we have lots more space in our garage & 50 in my pocket :T

Hopefully the weather will be good over Easter weekend - it's our annual garage tidy up/ sort out time - the amount of 'stuff n there does get less every year, but we do tend to run in and out of it in the colder months without properly putting things away - which is a recipe for disaster!

I am going to sort seeds for this year and make a list of what to sow and when, got to do something positive or I`ll procrastinate the whole day.

One more paperback is out and I have at last, taken kindle out of the drawer to charge. I have 72 books on kindle :o and hardly used it. I will change that

I made a tricky peasant loaf in my new small bm yesterday and it has turned out lovely, I have made dough for cinnamon rolls and croissants, several types of bread and chocolate cake and am now happy that this particular bm is all I need, it has a very small footprint and makes a 1lb loaf, perfect for one or two people. Panny is the next big item to go, to a dd after she has moved house. This one is zojirushi mini

:) Have decided to skive off from soup-making as cannot be arrissed but have been sorting out my aring cupboard, which is a princely 20 inches wide but packed very carefully, with many items corralled into drawstring cotton bags with cardboard and pencilled labels - so as not to risk ink transferring onto other linens.

Have consolidated and double-checked and decided that I am SABLE for towels. I am also going to release two pristine white hand towels which have never been used. They were gifts at different times, the only place I use hand-towels is the kitchen and I favour deeply-coloured ones for that, which is why these white ones haven't been used - would never have chosen them myself.

They are now going in the next chazzer bag. Had a slight wibble, then told myself that I have plenty of handtowels and don't need to hang onto these with a death-grip, must let someone else have the benefit. After all, all my own towels, apart from hand-me-downs, have themselves been sourced from chazzers and, if other people hadn't been generous, I wouldn't have been able to do that, would I now?

:o I also counted my socks. I got to approx 70 pairs * and then found a cotton bag in the airing cupboard with about another 10 pairs.

    * I haven't run demented in the sock shop, 90% of these were cast-off from Mum when she couldn't wear some because of the elastic in the cuffs, and didn't want to wear others because she doesn't need thick socks any more. Oh, and my specialised hiking socks, which cost an arm and a leg, are also counted towards the total.

S'OK, never ever gonna need to shop for socks.

I am practising heavy rotation with a few socks, a pillowslip, a tea towel and a pair of jammies, by wearing, washing and re-wearing immediately. It's amazing how hard it is to wear things up, even when you're trying! :rotfl:

I've managed to keep myself warm today by bringing in coal and kindling and chopping logs incase the snow gets any worse. I'm finally reaching the end of the logs created when I moved in and chopped down 4 huge conifers 4.5 years ago! These burn fast, so I get through a lot, and I gave lots away. I've got another pile (ash and willow) on the patio, so need to get my brother over with a chainsaw to reduce them to sizes I can lift onto the log splitter.

Just had a text from my brother saying he might want my big pine wardrobe, which would be a bonus, as it's lovely but too big for my house. I also need my SIL to go through some curtain fabric with me to decide what she wants, and need to bribe someone to help me put up blinds and the rest of the pictures. Then I need to get the builders back to finish everything they can while I wait for kitchen units.

I bought an electric spiraliser today. I really believe that I will use it and that it will become a key part of my healthy living (currently 3 months in). I've been here before though and realise it MAY be a Kondo item of the future..

:) It's been very badly neglected so for the first year, I will be using it very lightly, mainly frost-tender beans like runners and dwarf french beans.

I will be spending a lot of time digging out couch grass and using the landscaping rake to level it, it's up and down like the ocean wave, appallingly badly neglected.

Will be adding spent barley grains, coffee grounds, muck, eggshells, all the good things which I've been adding to my original plot for the past 10 years.

The plots are side by side. I tried growing spuds on Plot1 in the first year despite the abused and neglected soil. In some cases, I got 1-2 spuds back for one seed spud, in other cases I got -1 spud, very disappointing, but at least I know better now.
