Forgot to mention, we were sitting at the airport and OH mentioned he may need to get new laces for his shoes, and the laces are really long as they thread through eyelets all around the back of the shoe as well as through the normal holes at the front. As he got out of the car when we got home, the sole completely parted company with the rest of the shoe. So at least we don't have to try and find difficult laces!

Good job it didn't happen earlier in the day, OH had to deal with both our suitcases as he didn't want me damaging my mending arm.

Hopefully our move is just 3 weeks away now, keeping everything crossed as I just want to be gone now.

Outs in the past few days, a bag of books and a few bits of clothing, a large canvas picture I only brought to dress a room for selling, a large piece of furniture (dismantled and will be left in the garage as new owners are happy to chop any wood up for the fire). 3 table cloths that don't fit my new table, one old towel saved for a mucky job.

I did however accept the offer of a free compost bin, dont need it at the allotment as I've got plenty there but our new garden is over 150ft long so the only solitary bin there will need a bit of back up until I can clear and install a pallet compost bin solution.

Slinky - congratulations on your retirement and the new house. The next stage of your life is about to begin!
I'm very happy - I've had a large item in the garage for about 18 months that will be going this coming week. Its a double win as I also got a reasonable amount of dosh for it! Space and cash - whats not to like ;)

:T It's joyous, isn't it, cash is so much lighter, more compact and more versatile. Well done.

Am in throes of work week now, but have thoughts about some items. A convo with a friend revealed that she may like to have a pair of items I want to shed, they are being offered in the spirit that she can look and choose yea or nay, and they'll go to the chazzer if not to her taste.

Some other things are leaving later in the week, probably at least a bagful. My good leather hiking boots, only lightly used, will go. Due to health problems, hiking holidays are going to be a memory rather than an aspiration, and seeing these things is a cause of sadness. I shall share them while they're still good, rather than let them rot in storage, and happily imagine them gallivanting in the Lake District, or Scotland, on someone else's hooves.;)

I'm still working through my stash of toiletries. I used up a body lotion and a bottle of essential oil this morning.

I have collected up another bag of clothes to donate. I added a book that I only got half way through, but I'm not really interested.

Congrats on your retirement, Slinky! :T :j

I put a tshirt on this morning that has been languishing in my wardrobe - I really like it on the hanger - but not on me - so off it immediately came and is now the start of my latest CS bag. Good quality classic design tshirt - but a really weird fit on me - I don't think its meant for b00bs! :D

Other than that, not much happening here. I ordered loads of stuff online (think around £1k..... mainly shoes!!) for a wedding we went to but I couldn't get into town to try shoes on - kept a pair which cost less than £25 :) in the sale and have been returning the rest - have a trip to Debnums to do the last few items later this week, as these are return to store only or pay RM postage (not on your nelly!) Also included in my orders were much needed joggers for DS2 (have been searching for months) and new curtains for DS3 (again, have been looking for months) So DS3's old curtains will be taken down this week and washed/ ironed and can also go in CS box (fab condition, they are just a character design he has grown out of but were a flebay bargain a few years ago)

Oh - and DS1 has burned loads of tiny scrap pieces of wood from the new decking in the chimenea :)

I finish work later this week until Sept - am actually looking forward to having time to clean/ tidy/ sort things! :D

A few more 'outs' yesterday. A top I bought to a friend. I did like it but when I tried it on it was too tight across my square shoulders but fitted fine everywhere else and half a dozen climbing beans that I'd grown for a friend. Not a lot but still outs ;)

I tackled the dvd/cd stash in the attic! So many empty boxes, what was he thinking? And so many unlabelled cd's? A few original cd's are staying, as they can be safely exported, but why 3 of the same, still in their plastic wrappers? And why was our wedding video, and dd2's photo cd in that pile? So many questions...

In preparation for our move, we tackled our shed this afternoon. We'd already had a clearout last year so when OH said he was going to do this, I didn't anticipate there being much........... wrong! This time he actually went through the old filing cabinet full of junk and pulled loads of stuff out the drawers. Some bits we had no idea what they were for, never mind why we own them! A load of metal recycling, rubbish, general recycling emerged. Even at the end when we thought it was done, I went back in to move some cans of fence stain we are leaving for our buyers onto one shelf so we can tell the removers to ignore that one shelf. Right at the back I came across a tin of flea spray, manufacturing date 1995..... I remember the outbreak of fleas from our dear cat, sadly departed 7 years ago.

I dread to think what the loft holds in store, even having cleared quite a lot from it last year. We are desperately hoping to exchange this week. Assuming that happens, the loft is on the list for next weekend.

We're kondoing strawberries at the moment, got the best crop we've ever had this year. I planted up some runners last year into some troughs so they will be coming with us as I couldn't risk not finding this especially delicious variety again. Is anybody else getting a really good crop?

I have collected up another bag of clothes to donate.

That is being picked up today.

I added a top of my husbands and two winter coats. I had three black winter coats but I just kept the most flattering M&S one as it now fits me properly.:) They were all charity shop bargains anyway.

I also decluttered some weeds from the garden and some old wine bottles.:p
