wort, yes that getting rid is difficult, going from two to one and potentially, eventually to a smaller home, I am thinking in the distant future for me. I got rid of pint glasses but kept a few lager glasses and 4 beer glasses with pictures on from Germany. The males like the glasses

re crockery, I went down in stages and now keep between 4 and 6 of everything ,no gravy boats or very big plates. I use it all and kept a few for visitors, no-one minds eating off the incorrect plate, especially family and dinner party days are gone, thank heavens. I got rid of pyrex and all sorts of serving dishes, thankfully a dd took several items. I got rid of many of my glasses and small crystal vases. I found those items the easiest

I have a thrift problem wrt clothes though. I find it hard to get rid of perfectly good items but I do get rid, a bit at a time

Yesterday I actually got rid of some items that hubbie had carved from wood, naturally kept some, the ones I love but it is like cross stitch, a real pleasure to make but not always a pleasure to keep. I also got rid of my early carvings, from when I started learning, going to classes was therapy and that was the whole point

Today is grey and very wet and I went to bed last night knowing that I would be starting a major pass in the large shed. This is a weatherproof and insulated place and is very much more than a garden shed. It needs to look good when I come to sell, with a mains electricity supply, it would easily be converted to something else, office, workroom etc

Today is lock and lock again. Trying to get boxes into boxes into boxes. I am going to do a shifty around in the garage later this week, in the meantime, the aim is to fill my small empty and dry freezer with these lock n lock packs, knowing that what I pack away now is definitely going with me. In process I have emptied two top shelves in the kitchen. I have done a lot already this morning, all in the hall ready for the ground to dry before I start relocating

Why is it so incredibly hard to throw things away (as opposed to regift/ recycle)?

I’ve given away a lot and there is a genuine pleasure in seeing things go to someone who is delighted by it. A lot has gone to CS too. But there are some things that are probably too low in demand for a CS round here, or which I’m fond of but are “a bit” broken and those I struggle with.

I've just taken a bag to the CS, the bag was DDs and I think she aquired it from somewhere. Contents of the bag were a pair of work shoes that are a bit tight now I have an ingrowing toenail (they are probably why I have such a toenail!), a light shade I haven't put up in this house and has been hanging about for over 4 years, a couple of t shirts and some gold dishes I really don't like.

Off to the loft, send a search party if I'm not back!
  • Two year old has started climbing in and out of the cot so time for a bed. Turned out DH’s inclination for a toddler bed was partly due to his fear that LB would fall out (despite the fact I plan to move the bed guard from our bed to his) so I’ve compromised and allowed him to saw the legs of the spare room single bed (acquired from Gumtree) to make it lower. Saving us going and buying a special low bed. We will need a new single bed for spare room as MIL does stay over, but we will be able to get one cheaply from Gumtree. But we can live without it for the next little while so I now have a nice clear floor in the spare room I can use for kondoing :rotfl: we aren’t kondoing the cot as hope to have at least one more baby (I say two, DH says one ;) ) so it’s going in the loft. I am dreading kondoing the loft as it’s crammed full of stuff I’ve deferred decision making on...

  • I added another cardigan and a scarf to the donation bags.

After I had the clear out of my wardrobe last night I put stuff away and only left a few items on the surfaces.

Thanks to the person who told me about the USB charger plug thing as I didn't get rid of my dehumidifier in the end!:)

I now only have the dehumidifier, my alarm clock and a white lamp and a white horse ornament on my chest of drawers and then another white horse ornament and two white LED candles on my bedside table. It looks very serene in there now.:A

Small inroads today - DH has decided he prefers boxers to trunks and has released his old ones for ragging. I've cleared out my preserving cupboard and just put a dozen jars on Freecycle. I also had a small LBM - I keep the tag ends of frozen veg in the freezer for stir fries and have just emptied 3/4 bags of odds & sods. So why not consolidate into 1 clear bag that takes less space and I can see what I've got?

  • One of my lamps started making a weird noise last night and smoke came out! Binned.

I also binned some interdental brushes as I cannot stand the feeling of using them.:o

I just rearranged my finance files and was able to use part of the storage boxes to store all my paper books in the wardrobe.

I looked at my books again and two books are going out, one on minimalism to someone I know and the other one can go in the charity shop donation bag.

  • 4 bags of stuff to the CS this weekend. Mostly bits and bobs from Christmas stockings, a couple of books and my old winter coat. I loved it but realised that I wasn't using it any more as I prefer the waterproof one.

OH managed to finally kill the computer desk so we Kondo'd that to the tip and went through all the pen pots, shelves etc.

Also Kondo'd to the tip - Items from the in laws - 1 sky+ box and one outdoor work floodlight. Light had no plug and was suspected not to work. Couldn't be bothered wiring it to find out that it didn't work.

adhoc KMing afoot here at Chez Pavlov. I was aiming to release at least 2 items a day for January. January initially seemed to have other plans, and the list had stalled at 28 items.

However today I have listed a pile of books and DVDs to create an order for Ziffit and music magpie, which should net around £12. This took the list closer to 50. I've just run around and flung some items in a charity bag in order to hit 62.

I have a pile of stuff to list on Gumtree in the hope of earning a few £s. I need to start listing these today so I have a chance of hitting February's target of releasing 56 items.
