O/S Daily Monday 15th January 2018
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Still dark here, very wet and very windy - it's been raining from some time during the night so there's lots of laying water too.
Lunch yesterday was roast lamb, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, brussels, peas, yorkshires and gravy - lovely it was too, no meat LO's but there is some yorkshires, cauli/broc cheese, carrots and mash, they'll be used for another meal during the week.
We were lazy yesterday didn't do much - so was a nice chilled day - had a day off from hospital visiting, although I did go with DS1 on Saturday, we'll be going again tonight. Dinner therefore will be disjointed, but we'll all get fed one way or another.
Back to work for me today hoping for a busy one, we'll see.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
The weather was really rough last night, howling gale and sideways rain, I nearly closed the bedroom window but managed to sleep through it! All calm this morning.
Washing on the pulley, the DW can go on when I get home. Didn't hoover round yesterday, maybe today?
Didn't do much yesterday apart from a little shopping, watched a film and some TV and caught up with relatives on the phone, gosh, my Auntie must have been vaccinated with a gramaphone needle!
Hope everyone's well, take care. XX0 -
Morning
Just a brief 'checking in' from me as I've been AWOL.
I hope everyone is ok.
Have a good day one and all x'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

Morning everyone
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
I’ve had another restless night and gave up and got up about 4.00am. I’ve been reading and surfing the internet since then. I did start to watch a couple of things that I have got recorded but couldn’t get into them.
Today I was supposed to go with my neighbour to an outpatient appointment, but her appointment is one of the ones that have been cancelled due to the NHS being under pressure so I now have the morning free.
As the weather is so bad and the heavy rain forecast to last well into the afternoon I don’t think I will be venturing out anywhere. So I shall get on with the housework.
Hugs to those who are poorly or caring for someone who is.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.
Karcher it's good to see you post. I hope that you are ok0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Hope you find some improvement when you visit your mum later.
It's feeling quite chilly here this morning and we have the dreaded snow forecast for overnight/tomorrow. We've had enough already this winter.
We have an overdose of DGD's to look after later. DD is going to a funeral (her friend's dad) so we are picking the girls up from school. They are to feed and the two youngest to take to Brownies then back here for bed and school run in the morning (snow permitting!!) They are staying overnight as DD is having a small operation on her ear tomorrow morning and has to be at the hospital for 7.30 to wait her turn on the op list.
I left a pack of mince defrosting overnight as I am making a big Shepherds pie for tea, with carrots, peas and Yorks puds. Some leftover roasties somewhere in the depths of the chest freezer so might fish those out too.
The bathroom finally got its good clean yesterday, followed by 2 big washloads. Now drying (hopefully) on the airers upstairs.
Mr TA felt a bit better yesterday and more up to eating again. His mobility is a constant worry too and we really should start making plans for the future and keep putting it off. We need to decide whether to move to somewhere on one level or make this house more disabled friendly. He is already finding the stairs hard work and I worry he will fall down them. Sorry I am waffling but it's a big decision to make whichever we decide. And I really should start getting rid of years of clutter too.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, carers, sad and worried who want them. KARCHER nice to see you posting. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Been awake since 4.30 when Grump went off to work. We have decided to sleep separately on Sunday nights due to his very early start and the fact he spends the night before tossing and turning keeping us both awake....However he did make enough noise to wake the dead on his exit.
Youngest is just leaving for work. Neither men are happy with their work situation at the moment but since there's not a lot out there and youngest needs to finish his apprenticeship there's not a lot he can do. Blood out of a stone in both cases springs to mind.
Well I have Diva today as Mummy is at work which means ear plugs for the first part of the day at least...She usually settles down in the afternoon. Shes much the same for her other Nanny apparently but perfect at nursery (and pigs might fly lol).
Expecting a delivery today. The new part for my vacuum. £58 it cost. Its under warranty but means it has to be sent away and I cant do without it that long.
Onwards and forwards

Morning All,
Sending hugs to everyone who needs them.
I have been worrying all weekend about my mothers bills and paperwork.
I think I shall be using my savings to pay a lot of my mothers bills, as she did not have a POA or direct debits, but once I get deputyship I can pay myself back.
I have to visit my mother today and give and explain why I have applied to look after her bills and affairs.
I have also decided to only buy things I need. I will be having a big declutter from my house. I will also be clearing out my mothers home during the year to pay for her Nursing Home fees.

Good morning everyone.
Yesterday was a washout, blustery winds and the most awful rain which only let up overnight sometime. I just hunkered down under a blanket and did practically nothing apart from reading, surfing and watching.
The lovely farmer called round very unexpectedly bearing a large bag of beef mince and a bag of diced beef from his own herd. :j I was so pleased even if it meant I had to go outside to put them in the freezer.
Now it’s going to be a day of rain and perhaps snow later. I’ve got some work to do so will probably go into college where it’s warm.
Thinking of all of you - Happy Monday.0 -
Morning all
Lashing with rain here with a really strong wind its been going most of the night, Camelot my window was closed at about 5 this morning when it got really bad.
Off t work for me and the start of my seven day shift (which I hate) I am so exhausted by the end of it.
Not sure about dinner tonight might do sausage and mash which OH loves but im not keen on, it is a quick easy meal to make though.
Nanny I did do my Skirting boards yesterday and they do look good apart from a tiny bit where I took the masking tape off and it caught on the paint and took the new paint off with itso that bit will need sanding and re doing. I am available to do yours but would require copious amounts of wine and snacks as payment
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning all,
I do vaguely remember waking up in the night and hearing rain, but it didn't keep me awake for very long. A really good nights sleep was had for a change (almost makes being awake until 1:30am the night before worth it). I'm meeting a friend for coffee at mid day so I'll see how much cleaning/hoovering I can get done before then. The HT has exams in school this week. It's a new initiative - they start them on exams under the same conditions as their main GCSEs from year 7 now so that when they get to the important exams it's just routine for them. He certainly doesn't seem that worried....
Take care all of you0 -
Morning all, I have joined the ranks of the walking wounded. I've got the nasty cold that has gone round my office and woke myself up coughing and spluttering at .30 so I'm going back to bed.
Just wishing everyone well, karcher it is good to see youI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
