Vodafone contract

Is it possible to get out of my Vodafone contract without paying a massive charge?
Basically, my daughter took out a contract last May for £34 pm which includes 24gb data as she used to watch TV on it . She then decided in July to go to Australia for a year or so. She couldn't find anyone to take her contract and Vodafone were very unhelpful. So muggins here took it on. Now my data usage each month is roundabout 2-3gb!! And that's if I don't use WiFi!
So I'm paying 34 quid for 3gb and a pretty standard phone - Samsung A5.
Anyone know if I have any chance of getting out of this?

Did you actually transfer the contract to your name with Vodafone (not just change direct debit to your account)? If you did then no - you have no way of avoiding the Early Termination Charges unfortunately.

Alternatively, if the contract is still in your daughter's name and she has gone to Australia, then stop paying for it... Let it Default and Vodafone can chase your daughter for the debt. Which they will not, as she's not even in the UK and it will be a very small debt.

If your daughter plans to come back to the UK in the next 6 years, you might want to let her know that her Credit Profile will have a default from Vodafone for it... If it's only £34pm that isn't that bad is it surely to maintain until end of contract?

Oh ok. I wasn't very hopeful! It was transferred to my name as she intends to come back in a year or two.
