  • It's after lunch and I have just over two hours of work left and I've not spent anything today. I have enough food and stuff in my cupboards to get me to payday next Friday (9 days).

If I sell the Xbox & games I will get £145, this will go straight on Drafty, the balance then being paid on Friday. I also have £38 in cash. I think I hold onto this until I get paid and then pay that against my debt.

I'm finding holding myself accountable to be a very rewarding process and I'm so excited to be able to make some inroads with my salary next week.

  • Xbox One sold and money paid into the bank. Drafty paid down, plus an extra £10. Very good end to a non-spending day too!

  • Bit of a later start today as have a few appointments in town. Should be another non-spending day, hopefully!

Great news with the Xbox! Clearing that Drafty loan will be a significant milestone.

I try to keep £50 available in cash, usually in a drawer at home - just in case. It's too much of a temptation if I carry it around with me but good to have in case of emergency/local cash point being out of order.

    Well done so far!

  • I made it through town and into work without spending a penny!

Thanks for your well wishes! I'm just very focused on my goal and can't wait to have my life back. I then intend on living well within my means and will try to get a sub-prim CC later in the year, once all the defaults are settled to help rebuild over the next few years :)

  • Got through lunch without giving into temptation and spending anything in the canteen!

I definitely have enough food in the cupboards to get me to the next payday without any further spending - I just need to stay focused and motivated. :)

Think about the end goal, have a plan or a motto and just ask yourself if what your about to spend is going to have a positive or negative affect.

I used to buy snacks every day, spend £6-£7 on a fry up every morning and have a take away for my dinner most nights. It's just a habit that needs breaking.

You're doing great. Keep at it!

  • I just know that if I keep everything on track, I'll have the remainder of my disposable income to myself.

That's a motivating factor if ever I saw one. To have cash to spend outright for things like Black Friday and Xmas sales will be a veritable treat :)

My aim is to plan for success and address any failures as they come up, rather than expecting failure and building contingencies into things. Just the way I am, I guess?

I might also be able to still sell my phone privately, so long as I disclose the crack and someone is willing to take it on knowing that! That'll be another £200 I didn't budget for...
