  • Just want to say thank you to the original poster. I have never invested before so this was a great way to see how you can loose money!! But on the plus side it only ate into my £100 top up, so from a £100 punt I have gained a year later £73.37 :)

    Loose money?

    That's a Freudian for sure!

There may be more to be added after February, so I’m holding on for another 4 weeks.
No two ways about this one: Anything Free is not a Basic Right..it had to be earned...by someone, somewhere

Remember the account valuation is not showing the circa 5% distribution (similar to a dividend) you are owed for holding the fund at the begining of January due to be added into the account by the end of Feburary so the loss if you cash in now won't be that bad.

Still goes to show that investment is a long term activity with ups and downs along the way.

Our GIAs are past 12 months now so yesterday I got bored and sold down our funds at £186 and will wait for the circa 5% distribution to be added into the account with automatic reinvestment switched off. So for us the GIAs will have yielded around £95 profit each.

Havent kept up with the thread but thought it started out this might actually be a good company to invest with due to their structure of fees?

Yes but we don't need the GIAs they were purely for the bonus. We are keeping the Junior ISA. Value investments and have suffered in recent market conditions but have historically outperformed over the long term.

Anyone else had problems logging in today?

Noticed my SIPP (Vanguard 100) had enjoyed a fairly hefty bump today, so wanted to see how it compared with my Orbis account.... Missing my bi-monthly *cough* daily *cough* fix of checking of how it's performing.
  • Looking forward to seeing the extra distribution at the end of Feb.

My return across the two funds is -£190 with the value standing at £1900 so it'll be interesting to see how the distribution affects this.

Still no news on any new bonuses?

You should be able to calculate your distribution by multiplying the number of fund units you held in early January (on the statement page) by the estimated distribution per unit for your funds (on the overview page) which should work out to be around 5%.

We have a second child due to be born in early April so it would be good if they offer the matched £100 on a new Junior ISA again.

Looks like the "distributions" are being made now.

I now have a pending order "Distribution reinvestment of £10.27 into Global Balanced Fund". Should be withdrawable in a day or so I guess.
