Pay for new passport by direct debit

My UK passport expired at the end of 2017, is there a scheme where you can pay the balance of a new passport off in instalments over a year for example or do you have to outlay the whole cost in one go?

no way to do this direct but if you have a 0% credit card you could put it on and pay monthly amounts

Pretty sure you'll have to pay on application.

No you can't do it, you have to pay now.

    How to pay
Depending on how you apply, you can pay by:

    debit or credit card
    cash
cheque or postal order (payable to the correct organisation, and write the application barcode numbers on the back)

If I couldn't afford to pay for the passport now, I would not seriously be able to justify booking a trip.

Wanting to pay in instalments isn't being frugal. You would - even if it were an option - end up paying the same amount. :)

There's a good 35p interest to gain by sticking the money in a top paying easy access savings account!

I can just imagine the situation with paying by instalments.

There you are swanning around Marbella enjoying yourself. When it comes time to leave you find that your passport has been cancelled due to the DD failing because you have blown all your money on holiday.
