Hope all those feeling a bit under the weather are improving, but one good thing about CFO, if don't feel up to something it can be missed out, no obligations to prep or eat anything
Bit cooler today, so I've taken a pot of HM savoury mince out to defrost for tonight's dinner., and make a bit more freezer space for tomorrow's meat delivery just in case it's needed
Into L's this morning, cheese was main requirement, still cheaper per Kg to buy two small packs than one large, so two small ones in my bag
Plus YS 20p Warburton's toastie, save me making more bread & at 20p what's to lose?
I was tempted by some YS mince but until meat delivery I'm holding off
Lunch was my HM loaf as base for cheese & salady sarnie
Followed by one of my own pears, hard as nails yesterday, bit woolly by lunchtime, grrrr, should've got up at 1 AM and scoffed it by torchlight;)Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I feel a lot better now as I managed to get another hour of sleep.
I feel like making a chocolate (well cocoa) and banana smoothie. I might throw some fresh spinach in too as the bananas disguise the taste.:D
Quorn burgers, I did try a well known supermarket brand of these a few years back but they were really terrible, grey too. I do think I may of just had a bad pack somehow as I only got them as they did not have any LM's sausage which I do enjoy! But I also thought "I wonder what the burgers are like" but got their own cheap brand, oops.
You should probably try them again. They have put so much money and investment into improving veggie and vegan food over the past few years.:)
I like the Quorn hot and spicy burger. Linda McC sausage rolls are good too.0 -

Tip stuffing into a mug, hot water and a blob of marg, stir it and let it sit for as long as you can... loosening with a bit more water as necessary. Zap for a minute. Job done. It needs to be left to soak for 10+ minutes or so to give it chance to soak up the water... after that, how long you leave is up to you.
I did pick up ages ago a single sachet of instant 'supermarket' branded onion-mash thinking "I'll only get one in case it is horrible" , said place was miles away so I can't easily go again. Anyway it was absolutely lovely surprisingly! I think it was 50 or 60 pence fo the sachet and it was a reasonable size too. Typical. :rotfl: Mind you I know what would of happened if I had of got half a dozen of them, I would of hated them.Wednesday2000 wrote: »I feel a lot better now as I managed to get another hour of sleep.

To be honest the small selection at the tiny local corner shops in their freezers do not inspire at all, generally its random burgers and bags of various veg etc and I'm not too picky but my gut instinct says 'no - if you really want frozen go for a 40 min walk to the supermarket'I have on occasion asked local places if they would be interested in getting other things in I've mentioned but usually just get blank looked or told its not a popular line, or words to that effect.

I've not enjoyed Quorn in the past. I do love the LM Rosemary & something sausages. I've also tried the Morries 'chicken' nuggets and they were lovely. I don't buy from Morries as a rule as it's quite a long trek perchance they'll have something I fancy, so I tend to only go there if I decide to do a big round Robin, which would be on a Wednesday when a small town has a (cr4p) street market -and- they have a Morries -and- they have a Poundstretcher -and- they have a Tesc0. Since Tesc0 stopped making the gorgeous chicken korma 95p curry I loved I've not had the motivation to make that round Robin trip (about 15 miles there/back).
For me, tonight, chips were zapped. The freezer now only contains about 20 chips. Earlier today I had to do a tip run and finally binned that final soup, half a lemon and one frozen crust of bread that'd been in there well over a month.
Freezer is now in a position where it can be defrosted/flogged off almost instantly.0 -
Good evening everyone,
Glad the soup finally got binned PN;)
Sounds as though the "feeling a bit off bug" must be doing the rounds Wednesday, hope you feel better this evening. I feel better today though despite another lie in crashed for a couple of hours this afternoon. If my phone hadn't rang I'm not sure how long I would have slept for and I don't feel as though I'll have any problem sleeping tonight!
I got two of my three errands completed and yes did get drenched not helped by having a "Dr Foster" moment:eek:, not quite up to my middle but certainly well up my leg:mad:. As I was wet anyway when I got home I had a splosh round the veg patch, picked a good load more beans and checked the greenhouse. Just as well I did as my Ildi toms had toppled off the staging creating mayhem. Sorted it out but I now have a bowl of toms indoors to ripen as a few vines got broken along with another bowl of ripe ones I picked.
Lunch was was a bread roll filled with salad & ham, a very juicy, huge black plum I bought at the greengrocers while I was out and a cupasoup. I cba cooking so dinner is a portion of the Greek lasagne from the freezer with veg from the garden which I had on my meal plan for later in the week.
ETA - I'm so-so about "quorn" it is okay but I don't seek it out unless I'm cooking for a non-meat/fish eater. I eat quite a lot of veggie meals but tend to use pulses/eggs/cheese/dairy as the protein element as I'm not looking for a meat alternative as such. But it is good option for folk that want a similiar product to meat/fish items and veggie options overall have got a lot a better in recent years.0 -
I cannot stand quorn, I still see visions of a huge mound of pink gunk being whirled around in a big machine, how man made can you get
One more salad meal is left, veg juices are made and frozen. Soups to be eaten and more made, they are always a good stand by for cba days. So it is salad today, I can only eat one big meal and 2 small portions of something. Maybe soup and a piece of sd to dunk at the end of day. Aim is to work through the fridge, again0 -
Woke up to rain, seems a "front" went over, sun's out now with bright & breezy forecast
On strength of the forecast I've taken a salmon fillet out to defrost for tonight
Usual porridge breakfast, then made more yoghurt to keep my stock up
Today is "Wait in for meat delivery" day, looks like I've plenty of room but sometimes odd shapes can create problems.
My farm shop cuts, packs & freezes prior to delivery which suits me just fine although I suspect it adds a few hidden bob to the bill but I guess given the starting price it is a pebble on money mountain
Not sure about lunch, I've got the YS 20p toastie loaf, so summat on toast I think
Dinner will be the salmon fillet, gently fried in OO + butter, with salad + frozen chips
Maybe one of my pears to follow, woolly or notI cannot stand quorn, I still see visions of a huge mound of pink gunk being whirled around in a big machine, how man made can you get
Likewise, plus Q literally makes me puke, so not a problem leaving it off my menu
I do like LM sos rolls though, even though I only have them when out visiting my veggie rellies
And LM pies are nice, but I never buy them either unless some super offerEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Oh no Caronc about getting soaked!
I keep waking up hungry as my sleeping pattern is back to front when my husband is on nights.
I've had a smoothie and then a baked potato with beans afterwards.
I'm quite looking forward to watching PMQs today after the drama of last night.:rotfl:2025 GOALS

Ref Piri Piri chips. I have thanked person on here who suggested that a big bag of chips is decanted into portions when you get them, easier to grab, well you could put seasoning into bags too, different ones, salt and pepper, piri piri whatever. I have bought a bag of flavoured chips but only when YS as it seems a lot when basic ones are cheaper (I know home made are cheaper too but do not deep fry). Again, thanks for the portioning idea yet again.0
