Coriander seems to be a culprit for many people. Personally I love it but my nephew can't stand the fresh stuff but like you is ok with seeds/ground.
Yep...that's me as well. I'm a (fresh) coriander hater and the darn stuff is in/on so many recipes these days. If I'm making them myself - then I can use parsley instead or some chopped chives from the garden and that gives the "little zumzing green" to the look of it. Yet, funnily enough, I'm okay with ground seeds of it.
Mind you - thinking of our genes and their influence on us - and I shall just ignore the book I was skimming through yesterday as to what type of food my body dictates I eat. Can't recall the name of the type of idea now - not the Blood Group diet (which, from memory, said much the same for those of us with blood group O). Think it was "genotypes" and, according to that, I come noticeably the closest to the "Hunter" for my own genotype. "Hunters" are apparently not suited to vegetarian/heavy on the grain type diets according to that particular writer and we should be majoring on the meat (which I won't eat) and fish (don't want to when it's coming from 21st century seas thank you) and careful on the cheese (ie a particular passion of mine). Said book duly put straight back on the shelf with a comment to myself of "If you think I'm eating in a totally different way/a way I don't even agree with to my own = then you're much mistaken" #footputdownfirmly.
Apparently Blood Group O are the "oldest" blood group on the planet I gather - well I could do with my body being of a more modern variety, to match myself.0 -
Re coriander, I've not noticed hating it when I've been in an indian takeaway and it's in there ... but I do despise the taste of supermarket indian ready meals and I figure it's "because of the coriander".
They just don't taste the same at all ... and there's something "odd" about them.0 -
It's going to be a scorcher here again. Nothing planned food wise, but I'm a bit short on "fanciable" foods... so might have to pop out and get something later...
Yesterday I had burger/chips, one burger left and half way through the bag of chips.... maybe some fish fingers and/or fish cakes should be bought this week.
Not gone out once in all this good weather, been ill, feeling a little better today, but there's nothing/nowhere to go out to anyway.
Free ancestry weekend will keep me entertained, as I randomly dip here and there without any particular goal ... I just like looking at stuff.0 -
Good morning,
It's very warm, humid and overcast here this morning. No rain forecasted thankfully as we are bbqing this evening. It's supposed to get sunny later.:)
My son should arrive in a couple of hours and I'm just catching up on some chores before it's get too hot! Just the bathroom to clean and a spot of ironing left to do and then I can relax for a bit before I need to start on the food prep for tonight.0 -
Its building to a dreadful hot and muggy day and the harvesting has started or will be soon, I can hear the big machines trundling along. Tbh it is fascinating to watch the combines at work
Lunch was loads of salad and quickly cooked veg, picked 30 minutes prior, carrots took 7 minutes to cook. Feta, olives, walnuts. My last meal will just be a pud type with rhubarb compote0 -
I did a "two shops run".... mostly they didn't have what I was looking for, leaving me wandering the aisles picking up tasty junk food
There were sweeties and chocolate covered peanuts and a bar of chocolate, pizza, chips, indian snacks and some sausage rolls ... and I'm sure a lot more than that if I got the receipts out.
I'll be eating like a piggy for the next few days.... in my defence, I was having trouble making my trousers stay on/up when I left the house... so I figure I need to fatten up a bit so they fit me again0 -
Too hot to be comfortable now, drove down to my sister to walk the mile into town rather than 2 miles for a 9.30am appointment. Walked back (or dragged my self) 12.30 the car temperature read 34 on her drive and was almost too hot to touch steering wheel, decided if I let myself into my sisters house I might not want to move until it's dark and cooler. Temp was 32 when I got home, it's lucky I live in a quiet close as I forgot to shut big window and draw.curtains in lounge
Had some cold water and a cup of tea and deciding if I cba to get lunch, I really ought as I skipped breakfast, but salad's not appealing and I too hot and sticky to cook anything, considering second shower of day  I brought some berries from the farmers market so might have some with yogurt, if I don't I might pick c*ap and unlike PN my trousers aren't too big :cool:Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
I woke early, too sticky for sleeping, so up & at it by 6
Breakfast of porridge, my redcurrant gloop, honey & HM yoghurt
Then out watering by 7.30, it was still cool and lovely then, and wanted to get it over & done with, fed both back & front pots, feeling chuffed all done.
Spotted black fly on the runners, too high up to reach them for a squishing, luckily a ladybird was on the plant, so here's hoping
Temporarily car less so I was staying in, but got offered a lift into town, went along, nothing exciting but I did buy some big baps for later:D
Lunch, used the last PB baguette, with cheese & salady bits. My "bargain" L's toms had gone manky, only a couple worth saving, rest will be on the compost heap:(
The big baps are part of cunning plan for dinner, combination of the footy and heat I've decided that tuna / mayo bap will do for tonight
In my car less state I'm hitching a lift tomorrow, down the sea front, it will be hot but hoping for a nice sea breeze, and eat out in a cafe, no idea what
OK, 45 mins to kick off, 'ere we go ' ere we go etc:D:D
Update 1745. England 2 Sweden 0 :j:j Time for teaEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Didn't need to watch the football Farway I heard every time we scored from the neighbours
I may watch it if we get to the final
Lack of sleep is getting to me now so a quiet afternoon pottering doing not a lot really  I know we shouldn't complain but I'm not made for the heat, a fair skinned English Rose carrying too much weight :rotfl:
Lunch got missed so a early dinner for me, I marinated chicken in soy, honey, five spice, sesame oil, ginger, garlic and chilli and stir fried with soba noodles lots of different veg including lots of bean sprouts. It was really tasty, the LOs will keep until Monday lunch although the bean sprouts will have lost their crunch. A bit hot stirring over the hob so I'm not so ladylike sweating now
