Some kids round my way had today off school.... and have been a noisy, perpetually screaming mass of annoyance.... growing in quantity and volume since about 2.30. I just .... want them .... all .... to .... just DIE now.... ENOUGH!

Can't have the windows/doors open, can hear them inside anyway....

It's now got down to just about 3-4, but as they're chasing each other screaming ... you can't relax.

S0d off you little blighters.... Sod off.
    Now ... don't wait.... just GOOOOOOO ....

Constant, multiple, ear piercing screams now for nearly 5 hours, without a gap.

My stomach's in too many knots to eat.

    Good evening everyone,

Poor you re the car troubles Farway:eek:, you definitely deserved a taxi home!
Hi flubberzing - the kids here broke up last week so the warm weather is a bonus as it often rains when their holidays start. You'll be counting days now;)
PN- 5 hours of screaming sounds wearing , a good reason to get on with selling up!

I'm very, very achey tonight after spending a good part of today crouched on a low stool. My poor thigh muscles don't know what's hit them:eek:, though I'm sure it's very good for my core strength. My greenhouse jungle has more or less been tamed for the time being anyway. The tomato crop is looking very promising:D. I'm just having a quick sit down before I go and perch on another stool, a high one this time and prep chicken wings & brisket for tomorrow's bbq.
Dinner tonight will involve flat mushroom, 1/2 a pepper, LO spuds & "something else", possibly chicken wings as I defrosted a large bag and think I have more than I need for tomorrow. If not it will be something I can chuck in the oven and leave too its own devices.:)
My younger son comes home tomorrow for 9 days so I'm likely to be mainly awol, though no doubt he'll be out and about some of the time & I'll be CFO then. The weather looks as it is to be good while he is here so I'm hoping he heads to the trout fishery (and catches some) as I've none in the freezer. ;)
  • Was stirfry for dinner tonight - stuff to use up and only bit of experimenting there was chucking in a few leaves of my French Sorrel for the first time. Not sure whether it made no difference or added a tiny little lemony taste.

Repeat for breakfast today of the idea of cooked quinoa, topped with plant milk and frozen strawberries blitzed together. This time I used readymade cashew milk, rather than soaked cashews and water. Conclusion - same difference - but much quicker process to blitz ready made mylk together with frozen fruit (which as just as well for my eardrums - as those Vitamix blenders are SO noisy - except for the ones that are stratospheric in price - rather than rather expensive as mine is).

I've always found sorrel one of those tastes that some folk can taste strongly and others (like me) find very. very subtle unless loads is added. Of course the joy of CFO is we can add herbs/spices etc. to suit oneself:D

Another muggy day, I'm hoping tonight will be cooler than last night I think I got less than 3 hours sleep :( I arrived at work tired and grumpy, didn't help when the only other member of the team in today emailed me a 9.30am to say he wouldn't be in as he was 'self certing' didn't surprise me, just a vibe I got yesterday that he might pull a sickie. One of my other colleagues just said 'no surprise' as well. He really dropped me in it as there was so much which had to be done today plus adhoc requests, I ended up working though lunch and staying until six, I was so  but I got it done, we won't talk about the 20 emails outstanding  now I could be wrong but I doubt it he has been complaining that he can't watch the tennis at work among other things

I'm really trying to eat healthy at the moment as I'm bigger now than I have ever been, my age and thyroid haven't helped so I spent the afternoon avoiding the sweets and biscuits currently in the office and I'm now really trying not to think gin :D

Lunch was salmon salad, I made a potato salad using a yogurt dressing rather than mayonnaise, the jury's still out on it. Dinner was late for me I needed to eat some mackerel fillets I had defrosted but didn't fancy them, I cooked them with rice, broad beans, broccoli and runner beans and them only ate half of it :o maybe trying to eat mackerel at 8pm wasn't a good idea :o

I've been a good sister and kept an eye on the football, switching between channels and texting her the scores, she owes me :rotfl:

  • That might help explain it Caron - I wasnt aware of that and I guess maybe I'm one of the ones that needs to use a fair bit to "get it" so to say.

Still veering around a bit on a spectrum between vegetarian and vegan. When at the vegetarian end - then one of my favourite things is a cheese and sorrel omelette and I do use quite a bit of that French sorrel in that.

Yep - I asked a member of staff once would he prefer to put "football fever" or "hangover" on his self cert or take an emergency day's leave? Guess which option he took. BTW I wasn't being judgemental but I had tracked his sick days (many once off with vague illness to certain important footie games...)

I'm not sure if it is a "thing" as such but I find that some herbs I really struggle to taste and others really hit my taste buds even if not much is used. Sorrel and tarragon are my two extremes, any more than a pinch of tarragon and it catches the back of my throat.

I once worked with a guy who would go sick most Fridays before a bank holiday, he was a long term temp (nearly a year) who then wondered why when the job went permanent he wasn't offered it

Regarding herbs I really can't eat coriander if a meal contains even a small amount that's all I can taste, horrible stuff. I like it ground or the seeds and use it a lot,

Coriander seems to be a culprit for many people. Personally I love it but my nephew can't stand the fresh stuff but like you is ok with seeds/ground.

I have read that it's all about the genes with coriander, whether you love or hate it. I know a couple of my sisters are the same as me
