Bit of a mixed morning, woke up at 2ish and failed to get back to sleep, then it was gone 8 when I woke up. Put my loose plans out of the window, never mind, the world kept on turning

Breakfast usual porridge, banana, honey & HM yoghurt
Pegged washing out in breezy warm sunshine, at least that part of the day's plan worked out
Spot of gardening, fed & watered all the plants in pots, just not enough rain to rely on

Lunch was HM soda bread, cheese, fresh tom & HM chutney. The chutney tasted a bit weird / musty, looked OK, binned it just in case, it was 2013 vintage Blackberry so not unexpected TBH

I've scoffed some of the Father's day choccies, Lindt ones, very nice and certainly not something I would buy just for me

Last night's "dinner" BTW did finish up as just HM soda bread, with strawberry jam, plus some defrosted sausage rolls later

Dinner today, I'm thinking a couple of the LO Heck bangers, with chips & fried eggs, and more of the choccies
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens

I’m back after a busy weekend! Away all day on Friday had a cheeky Chinese on Friday night, was delicious and far too much so also had on Saturday lunchtime. Felt guilty :rotfl: about said Chinese so had pitta hummus salad and chicken for tea all leftover. Just toast on Sunday and as it was fathers day a lovely roast pork dinner – and some cheesecake dear me :)

Anyway this week I have done a food shop and dinners will involve, toad in the hole and some more pork for roasting. Also samphire as it was on offer.
  • Glazed aubergine cutlets for dinner tonight I think. New recipe - aubergines and various flavouring things with them. To serve with rice I think.

Summat "new" and tasty - but not too much trouble to think about - after a day of some exercise and then I decided to do some "activist" work with my computer and I did a bit/had to battle with it to make it work/did a bit more and had another battle with getting Internet access/looked up "fluff" and no problem and so it went:cool:. Finished it now though:rotfl:

..and I expect my computer will behave perfectly now I've finished that/done & dusted/pow!
.......and am back to "fluff" I'm not bothered about:cool:

EDIT; Did I speak too soon - it just did another "cutting Internet access" on me....

Right - off to cook the aubergine - now I've finished my work.

I am snowed under with allotment veg and they are mostly green, I can have a typical salad for lunch, just got to cook the beetroot. there are masses on the allotment, only in a space 4 x 3 feet, I will throw on a few nuts

I need to deal with gooseberries tomorrow. Top tail and freeze likely. Breakfast will be a cabbage juice, made with other veg besides cabbage and lemon will take the cabbage taste away and I will put an apple in if I have one. Almost at the end of the strawberries with blackcurrants and raspberries ripening fast
  • Been onto my Internet provider - cue for mutual puzzlement - as they could see it was playing up like mad, but no known reason.

Anyways - they've done the equivalent their end of "giving it a good kick" - so fingers crossed.

Done dinner - and the aubergine thing planned. Aubergine slices smeared with mixture of soya sauce, maple syrup, the equivalent of Dijon mustard. It was rather nice:) and duly served with cheat rice & quinoa mix and some kale from my garden. Snack beforehand being grapes and some strawberries from my garden.

So I feel like I've had a reasonable dinner this evening.

sounds a nice meal money. Anyone else starting to feel the effects of hay fever? Its going to get intense this week, the long grass etc. I had a sore throat when I was sitting reading and realised that it was the grass, the air filters are on and I took some pollinosan tablets and used the nasal spray. It went almost instantly. I never think about the long grass but I am surrounded by it

    Good evening everyone,
Glazed aubergines sound good:) MTSTM and I have some in the fridge though I've no maple syrup I do have honey.
kittie - I'm definitely a bit "bunged" and sneezy but it's still quite damp here so not sure if it's hayfever or a cold. I tend to only get hayfever in the Spring (tree pollen I think) or if I'm near lots of fireweed so I suspect it might be the sniffles.

I did manage a brief walk and then was horizontal for a few hours and it has helped a little though I'm still wonky I feel a bit more human:).
Roasted veg haven't been made and I cba prepping now so they can wait until tomorrow.

Lunch was herring & salad, I'm fair working my way through the batch:D.
Dinner is still tbc it will be something that involves minimal prep so I will see what I have by way of "bung it in the oven"s or HM ready meals:)

I saw on the news at the weekend that the pollen count was high at the moment and people who haven't suffered before were getting hayfever. I'm taking tablets as the pollen effects my asthma.

Glad you're feeling a little better Caronc :)

Back at work today and playing catch-up, last week confirmed that I would like to retire or at least go part time closer to home at 60 when I get a company pension, I'm mortgage free now so 6 more years to knuckle down and make it manageable  well I can dream :D

Lunch was veggie lasagna rescued from the freezer and dinner was lamb meatballs with braised fennel - thank you Caronc as this was a Yotom Ottolenghli recipe. Definitely one for my book to do again, the only issue was I halved the recipe and I think I should have made the sauce using full amounts as I ended up adding water to stop it sticking. I was wary about using lamb mince as I have found it too fatty previously but picked up some 10% fat YS today and it wasn't at all fatty and half a pack to freeze for next time. Two [STRIKE]piggy[/STRIKE] good size portions I don't think I'll freeze the LOs so one for Wednesday I think :D I just served it with some green beans.

Oh I so wish I was mortgage-free but I'm working on it.
Glad the recipe was a success though IMHO more sauce is always a good thing :) (unless it is tom ketchup as I'm not a huge fan)
Lamb mince does seem to have got less fatty in recent years, I used to always have to fry it first and drain in a colander before I used it but it's been fine for that the past couple of times I've had it, though I'm not sure if it's quite as tasty...;)
