Yesterday I had some "small wins" by going to the tip and collecting some archive boxes (for packing bits/bobs/clutter) ...

This morning I was out at 7am weeding a bit of the garden so I could get to the fence to splash it with fence stuff.... I then painted that fence with the stuff. Sat down, but then got another rush of enthusiasm and went out to paint another piece of fence double the size of the other bit, which I've mostly done now... so 5 hours' fence painting today.

I figure that means I can legally get away with doing not a lot more today :)

Not eaten yet. If I could choose/decide what to eat then I'd be getting it .. but I can't. On the basis of not being able to choose/decide, if my belly rumbles then I'll go for hash browns, sausages, beans and scrambled eggs again as I've got those and it's easy.

I've got a slice of pie in the freezer.... I could take that out now and have that later, with mash! Hot day, but what the heck.

EDIT: I did that. Pie is defrosting for later.... and I've cooked sausages, beans, hash browns and scrambled eggs.... eating it now :)

Quite often, "these types" (aka bullies) are on the "wrong side of what's right". Question is, whatever it is, is the other woman legally correct to do what she's doing .... and are they just bullying her so they can get something "illegally"...

Increasingly these days it seems that "people who are clearly/entirely in the wrong" are making the most noise and getting their faces in the paper moaning about others who are, technically and legally correct.

I'm intrigued what the woman's doing.... is she going shopping in her onesie and doesn't care who sees her, making the road/area look shabby? Or is she holding all night parties?

Nothing that would raise an eyebrow elsewhere in our country or is remotely illegal #sighs heavily. Admits that I keep this particular friend a bit "at arms length" because I can't quite trust her actually. She's a bit prone to the "You shoulds...." as I call them. I've figured out why - she puts fitting-in above anything else....

I prefer to "fit in" - but if it means being in the wrong on something - then fitting-in is not a priority. Incident duly written in my journal as example of "Things that happen right here/right now - that aren't in accordance with Eternal Values...one of those incidents that happen in the early years of this particular century (heading "political correctness" I guess)".

    PM sent to you explaining.

That's just mad .... people have a right to their opinions and choices, so long as they're not illegal .... it's a bit like vegans ganging up on somebody because she's said she does enjoy a hot dog!

That's utterly bizarre. What she chooses is nobody else's business, as she's not doing anything illegal, nor causing a nuisance. One could have opinions as to whether her choices are right or wrong, but it's plain nasty bullying to go to such lengths to get somebody to move. What happens if the next person in their area does something else the vigilante group don't like .... maybe they put Xmas decorations up 2 days early .... get them out too? What if "the group" decide they don't want people who drive diesels to move to the town? Or ... anything that is a "natural choice" that people make.

You know loons... but you know that.

Usual pot of tea & porridgey breakfast.

Made a pan of yoghurt, then out mooching around S/ms

Packet of YS jumbo cod like fish fingers[60% cod] from Asd*, giving them a try, I like the W/rose ones but they are twice the price

Had two of the jumbo fingers in a sarnie for lunch, as suspected, get what you pay for, no surprise to find the W/rose ones are much nicer than the Asd* ones

Followed by 1/4 of the Morries apple pie:o

Nice & sunny, forecast is up in the mid 20s tomorrow. Bit of gardening, planted out last 4 of the runners, and plopped a hanging tom in a basket, to try outside hanging on the pear tree supports.
Added a couple of trailing nasturtiums in there, if all goes to plan the nasturtiums will scramble up & over my pear tree and look great.

On the grape front, thinking on about the 3 year wait for fruit & training I decided that I should really get a named variety that I know will be worth the wait.
Ordered a grafted "Lakemont" by post, nursery is near here, I could drive up & collect, but CBA and because it is sent 1st class Royal mail it should be fine
Never really liked stuffed vine leaves but it could be dual purpose vine for those inclined

Money, how about a hop vine for guerrilla gardening? Hops are pretty plants anyway. And the seed heads supposed to induce sleep I think, or is that once included in a brew?:) https://andhereweare.net/eating-hop-shoots/

Dinner, looking more & more CBA of another YS fish finger sarnie, and if still hungry there is last of the Quiche and apple pie

:rotfl:and I take the view (despite hovering between veganism and vegetarianism) that, when I go out to a meal = I want/expect what I want available for myself to be on the menu and will complain if we're not catered for. BUT - I'll probably turn to whoever-I'm-with and say "You might fancy so-and-so on the menu" and be indicating a meat dish they might like. Cue for last meal out with person concerned - and I was duly saying "You might like...." about a meat dish I spotted on the menu in front of us.

Obviously my preference will be that they also choose something vegan-vegetarian but that's how far I take the view of "It's not up to me to tell them what they shouldn't eat - even if I'd rather they didn't" iyswim.

That tends to be my approach to food generally. If I'm treating someone to coffee out there will be a firm offer from me to "choose the cake you want - if you'd like one" to go with the coffee. Though I myself usually don't have one - but I think it's manners to offer - and it's usually accepted.

I do wonder about that at intervals. I briefly tried a humulus lupulus (or whatever yer latin name is) in a pot in my last garden. I'm now wondering about researching a bit more on that and maybe having one straight into the earth in this garden too. I'm working my way through trying out things I've been promising myself to have a go at.

I did make a hop herbal pillow for someone before - wondering if that would help their chronic insomnia and they duly took it. Not sure how long they tried that for...

Me - I would be after the hop shoots - as they're edible.

and that is why vegans get bad press, that sense of entitlement. My son and his long term OH are vegans, have been for a very long time, they always phone ahead to check that vegan dishes are on the menu and they usually are these days. I had a good discussion about oils the other day, some of which commonly used by vegans are very bad but you just cannot discuss with a vegan. My vegan friend, lifelong vegan, is now on heart pills and suffering from anxiety, I know why but will keep it zipped

So now I am thinking about tomorrow and food, doesn`t it come around often? Pasta bake, sweet potato chunks baked, overnight jumbo oats starter and probably some tarty bottled blackberries mixed in that. Lunch meal, LO sardines, various salad items and am liking the sliced red onion and fennel marinaded (cooked) in lemon juice, edamame pasta

Cake thinking at the moment as I have dates to use up. 2 x date and walnut loaf ingredients are out and ready, half xylitol and half the muscovado sugar amount

Back stiffness all gone, that resting horizontally is magic, takes the weight off and lets muscles, discs and bones relax. I see we are due for a lot more hot weather, drat, the allotment is bone dry and takes a lot of cans of water all carried by hand from the tap. Water butt is empty. I want to put squashes out but am thinking I may plant them through weed fabric as mulch, already in place and a bit damper below. Not ideal though as I like a mound and a moat. Dithering as they are ok in pots at the mo

Personally - I believe that everyone is entitled to have whatever type of food they have decided on and/or their health decrees they should have. The one or two exceptions I make to this are for a rather different reason.

So - yep...you name it and, if I'm the one catering, then I will do whatever type of food specified - though, if I'm the one catering, then I don't do meat and fish (as I'd have to prepare them - and I wouldnt). Even if someone says "I am gluten-free and/or have multiple allergies" I don't think it's up to me to ask if they really are - and I just ensure they are catered for/they just get asked to tell me what they cant or wont eat.

I don't see it as a sense of entitlement - as one wouldnt say the same thing about meat-eaters, for instance, expecting to see meat choices available. So obviously I wouldnt see it as "entitlement" for anyone else to take exactly the same view that their food should be available.

But I like things very up-to-date anyway and so, personally, have probably ruled out a noticeable number of venues if I'm choosing on the grounds "Oh...that one is a bit old-fashioned. I wonder if there's a more modern one available....". I've got a very distinct preference for bang up-to-the-minute and only opened in the last couple of years:rotfl: personally.

Re other people - I stick to the "You catch more flies with honey than vinegar" way of thinking re what other people eat - hence I don't try and persuade people to change their way of eating personally. They don't get "lectures" with their mouthfuls - and it doesn't even tend to occur to me to do so and hence expecting the same respect back.

    Good evening everyone,

Late on parade today due to a combination of dodgy internet, dodgy balance and huge dollop of cba:o.
No sunshine here just a cold breeze, gloomy and for the last hour drizzle. Tomorrow looks much the same:(.
I got some chores done this morning and had a bit of duvet afternoon with my book. I was supposed to be going to my sister's tonight for dinner but that's been put back as my Dad's tummy troubles are giving him grief!
Just had a banana for breakfast as I fancied a cooked lunch- lorne, tattie scone & egg with a good splash of HP:). I've taken a pork chop out for dinner which I'm going to have with root veg mash, mushrooms, onions, peas and gravy. I'm looking forward to my groceries arriving tomorrow as I'm very short on fresh F&V. I've a real notion for beansprouts so I've ordered a bag along with other stir fry suitable veg so next few days will be based round these. So far I'm thinking turkey singapore noodles, pollock thai green curry & rice and tom yum soup with beef or prawns. That lot should get my tastebuds tingling:). I used to make my own base pastes but I'm cheating and have ordered some. The excess I'll freeze in suitable CFO portions. After tomorrow the weather is looking ok for the rest of the week so I'm aiming for salad lunches. My shopping bill always goes up a bit at this time of year until I start to get stuff from garden but I spent very little on groceries during the first few months of 2018 so it will all balance itself out (I hope):). My younger son is home next weekend for a few days and then my elder son & gf will be here at the beginning of June. I'm looking forward to having folk about the house.

I served the pie with mash and beans.
It was nice.... although a bit hard going to eat a hot pie/mash/beans when the weather's so warm and nice ... but I managed :)
