    Mortgage-free Glee!
So starting with my money saving straight away, I'm going to make the birthday banners and also make swirls of coloured paper instead of balloons.

I'm not going to buy cards unless the are 10 for £1 - which is cheaper than making! I will try to make family cards with what I have in now.

BBQ later so I need to get food for that, but I will have last nights lasagna leftovers instead (still contains red meat!).

Everything happens for a reason - maybe the lodger leaving was to push me back to being more frugal.

I totally agree with beanie honestly you are way to hard on yourself no need to do it. Yes the lodger has left but you'll get another one or do a bit of Airbnb.

Don't stop buying wine and biscuits to save pennies if you enjoy it why are you the only one being deprived. If money is really tight then look at OH business can he change jobs or do more it does all seem to fall on you. I think your amazing but I wouldn't be so hard on myself

I agree with Beanie and TallGirl x You've come so far, and I bet you'll have somebody there in no time.

In the meantime, given it's summer would you do more AirB&B bookings to make up some of the loss? (I vaguely remember it being mentioned once, but not sure if you actually went ahead with it?).

Yes I'm doing some airbnb but make more money with a lodger.

I know I am hard on myself although it's not my fault it's just one of those things.

We (well mostly me) are hoping to go to a different place off our list most holidays (Christmas, Easter, Summer, October) so not really travelling around, but just seeing the world. A bit of France this summer and going to spain in October.

I was saving for Aus and New Zealand and had almost 5k from this summer, but won't be able to use it for travelling until we get a lodger - it'll have to cover our costs - hence my focus on cutting costs.

OH would rather just plod along it's me that wants to travel so that's why I suppose I take it on as my task!

Cutting wine and biscuits will be a good thing for our health though!

Being too hard on yourself isn't your "fault", earthie, but it is your "responsibility". It's actually quite uncomfortable to read, I confess. Please have a think about the feedback you're getting - think of those posts you made just last week or so, about the wonderful time you had last weekend, that cost nothing. Was it last weekend? Seems very recent. And wine ... are you giving up all wine? I don't know how much you drink, but one bottle a week is probably healthier for you than none at all, especially since you find it so difficult to pace yourself.

I'm always fascinated by your plots and plans and aims and goals. I find you one of those inspirational people because of your focus and drive to do things (like the holidays, utube, lunchclub, students, lodgers) and balance it with work and especially with your family. You do leave me breathless at times, just reading about what you are up to, but I love it! You strike me as someone who is comfortable being out of your comfort zone - if that even makes sense! I am one who has set up an armchair , the remote and a good book in the centre of my comfort zone, to make it very hard for me to leave it!
