Care to give examples as it would be extremely strange behaviour.
There was a thread on here somewhere for one, an LG perhaps if you're going to search. I think the TV scanned for channels on Freesat but then refused to actually show them.
Edit: Panasonic, not LG. No it's not, I was right the first time, it was an LG.0 -

So based on one report, hardly suggest an issue.0 -

Well were is the one you are referring too and where are the rest?0 -
Not so much a box but if you were to use a "Freesat" television it will normally have tuners for satellite and digital terestrial. If you buy a "Smart" TV then it can be connected to your broadband to achieve all the inputs you are after.
But then you're stuck with, at best, very basic recording facilities.
I would point out that since Freesat added 'Dave' to the Freesat lineup, I don't think there's anything worthwhile on Freeview, that you can't have on Freesat.
Freetime box (that's a Freesat recorder plus on demand & catch up), plus another box, under a Freeview HD TV should have you covered. You may already have a PS3, XBox 360, PS4, XBox One for example, all of which have Now TV apps (and lots of other catch up stuff, Netflix etc).0 -
Panasonic tvs made around the time of our 42AS650 have Freetime and before Christmas the ITV previous week listings disappeared, at the same time that a another app icon warned that ITV Hub would soon disappear (It went on Friday).
Apparently, ITV and Panasonic blame eachother, but when I needed to access the Hub in my laptop, there was a long list of tvs and boxes which ITV no longer offers catch up to (our tv under 3 years old),so I wonder whether any catch up boxes are worth buying if services as lost so soon.0 -

Why do you say that ?
We have a non-HD Humax box, but I was considering getting a more recent HD one with Catchup, since the tv already lost ITVHub, but who knows what could be removed from a new box,in a few weeks time ? I may, therefore, try out the standard Humax to see if I can spot it's not HD.
I'm just beginning to miss Sky a little as catch up there is so smooth. Smart tv was ok, until now,but it's annoying having to get out my laptop for ITV,even though the service is nowhere near as good as iPlayer.0 -
A fire stick or NowTv box would be cheaper.0

There are some android boxes that can do what you want. I am considering buying one for my new house when its ready. If you do get one, let us know your thoughts.
1. Freesat GTC Hybrid Android TV Box - 16GB - DVB-S2/T2/C
2. MAGICSEE C300 Hybrid Android TV Box / DVB-S2/T2/C
3. 2017 MECOOL KIII Pro - Hybrid Android TV Box - Dual DVB-T/S Tuners
4. 2017 WETEK Play 2 - Hybrid Android Box with DVB Satellite/TV Tuner0 -

From what I've seen myself (admittedly limited as we've had Sky for ever) I found the picture (and possibly the sound) superior on Freesat.
You'll definitely notice a difference between HD & SD transmissions of the same channel, listen to the audio as well (on Sky at least there's a huge difference unless they deliberately cripple the sound as well to force an upgrade to HD).
