hyperoptic installation question

Hiya, I live in an apartment block, maintained by a property management company. The block is very neat & tidy -almost spotless - lucky me!
I am currently looking at fibre-only broadband and am tempted by hyperoptic's good reputation and introductory offers (£10 pcm for 1 Gbit!). When I arranged the start of service, the phone person told me about the purpose of an engineer's visit, which is to extend the fibre cable, already in place in the building, apparently, into my flat. I panicked and put the plan on hold, imagining exposed cables stapled to the wall of the corridor and looking awful, which I pictured, in my fevered imagination, would prompt a visit from a wrathful property manager, waving a writ from his lawyer and demanding I'm thrown into jail with no Get Out Free card!!! Am I being paranoid? Has anyone out there in MSE-land experience of hyperoptic installations?

The only advice i can give is that hyperoptic are FAST, upload and download.

All isp installers will install their way, but you can be on hand to guide them your way.

We use hyperoptic on a few of our construction sites and the performance is second to none.

Talk to the management company? If they have already arranged the presence of the service in the building and perhaps even used it as a selling point, then they should expect tenants to avail themselves of it.

Why don't you ask Hyperoptic what the installation would involve instead of letting your imagination get carried away. It could well involve very little mess, disruption, and be very neat. Once you know either way you can decide what to do.

Your management company well be well aware of the Hyperoptic installation process and will probably know the local installer. It's a very simple process. There will be hatches near your apartment front door. The cat5e cable is neatly laid near the skirting board and almost invisible. Then you choose where to have your RJ45 socket. If you want over 10m you will pay a £30 surcharge.

£10pcm for 1gb is insane. Is this offer local to your building? Standard promo price is £48pcm then £60 after first 12 months.

Just as a postscript on this thread, and for your information, I now have Hyperoptic cable broadband. The apartment building, it turns out, was already wired vertically and horizontally, at the time of its original construction and all the installer had to do was run the cable in from the suspended ceiling in the hallway. This he did in about 20 minutes flat, by drilling through, above my flat front door. The cable is only in evidence after it appears on my side and he stapled it nice and neat round the corner and down to the modem / router. Nice bloke, said he likes working for the company and my download / upload speeds are very good (and more-or-less symmetrical, too - not that I need that!) and all for much much less than Virgin. Nice to see an example of competition working at long last, VM having had it their way for years... I first bought their cable-to-house back in about 2005, for under £15 a month and by last year when I finally gave up on them, it had crept up to over £30... their excuse was always that they were providing higher and higher speeds, but my complaint was that not only did I not want a bloomin' phone, but I didn't need speeds of anything much over 10Mbps. Hyperoptic seem ready to take a more customer-focused approach, - we shall see!
