I have received my debit card and PIN from NatWest, but have not received the activation code which is required to register for online banking. Do they send that out automatically or do you have to ask them to send one?

As I found out from others, you only need Account No. DC, PIN and Customer No. to register for online banking.
  • If I already had an existing current account, and am taking the route of having another current account transferred into it, what communications should I have from natwest? Had noting yet (applied on Thursday)

How are you managing to do it without an account number - when I try and register that field is compulsory :(
  • Aargh! I applied on line, got accepted, downloaded the mobile app to my phone and got a six digit code text to me (which I don't actually know what for as it says to complete your online payment?) and then clicked on a video tutorial of mobile banking & then lost the whole application! I assume I pressed the wrong "X" on the screen but I don't know! (Hopeless with IT, I know!) Tried ringing them but switching team not open on Sundays & tried going through the whole process again but when I click on new customer, it stops me going any further on my laptop as it just seems to freeze. Not sure whether I just need to sit and wait for an acceptance email or not? Never got as far as being asked for any photo ID so not sure the application actually got all the way through.

See post 508. Call them and they will give it to you.
  • Maiden mum this happened to me

I waited a while and because I didn’t get an email I assumed it hadn’t gone through and did another one. I then got 2 account opening emails the next day!! I did successfully call and cancel one so it’s no biggie if you do I again. On the application I didn’t get asked to do proof, that came in the email afterwards. So either wait or try again now, either I guess is fine

My apologies, yes you need the account number as well. Some of us have received all three of Account No./DC/Pin in three envelopes on the same day, I wrongly had it in mind that had happened to you as well.

As B_G_B says you could ring them or maybe wait and see what tomorrow's post brings first.
  • Thanks choccielover - there's hope for me yet!

Jeepers this is like banking with 'penny numbers' or watching paint dry!
    :wall:

yesterday- e-mail confirming the switch (ha, but no numbers for anything!)
today- e-mail with my customer number- so one number allowed to be revealed!!
Did phone yesterday & ask for a/c and sort code numbers.
    Nothing arrived in post yesterday

Maybe it's NatWest's answer to a NY advent calendar!........ The advent of the switching bonus
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Does anyone know how we stand with the tax situation for these switching incentive bonuses? I would imagine they don't count as savings interest, but do we have to declare them as other income, or are they tax-free?

    Has anyone thought about this?

    Thanks!
