How to fix the blocked gutter ????
Get somebody to clean it out for you.....
Slip the window cleaner a fiver ??
Its going to be cheaper than paying the 'Damp Specialist'.
Who will almost certainly find 'rising damp'& want to take plenty of ££££ off you.
It seems to be totally blocked with dry mud so how can it be unblocked ?0 -
Bumped for a response.
Thanks.0 -
Do you have any local/parish magazines come through your door? They'll usually have somebody advertising gutter cleaning services, mine do. If not google 'gutter cleaning services XXXtown' or ask anybody you know for recommendations.

Trowel, scoop it out.
Soften with water, hose it out.
Even replace guttering, in extreme.
I'd take a bet with you, you don't have rising damp. Cancel the expensive salesman due to visit, get a couple more decorators in, find one who doesn't mind looking in a gutter, add that into their quote. Any decorator "upselling " damp [STRIKE]salesmen[/STRIKE] er... specialistdoesn't deserve the job. A decorator who isn't averse to ten minutes up a ladder isn't going to give a rounded job!

Clean the gutters in the rain! That will have softened it.
Come on. This is basic house maintenance and you’re happy to spend a fortune on specialists when you need someone with a small ladder - you’re in a bungalow! There’s your £40 spent wisely.
It doesn’t actually sound too bad anyway. It’s not a massive damp problem and I also suggest you cancel the appointment. Clean the gutter, clean the affected area with bleach and keep your furniture further away from the wall to allow air to circulate.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Man has been round to my place. Says that I need a pacifier vent and extractor for the condensation plus some things to disinfect the stains. He says he will put them in his report.
Said my blocked guttering was not causing problem.
Quoted me £250 for vent, extractor and install + vat on top.

I think your guttering is still blocked!
Clearing that needs doing regardless. In a bungalow, almost anyone can DIY that, or find a cheap handyman.
I wouldn't be looking for more complex solutions until that were done, and nor would I be wasting time getting quotes for vents.
Not saying blocked gutter is the cause, but that it does need clearing.0 -

After all the good advice given on this site! , you dont seem to want to follow any advice!.
Roll your sleeves up and get stuck in .
Haveing had the similar problems with my bungalow , remove all furniture away from the walls & allow at least a 3" air flow gap around all of the room, including the back of the bed headboard, .
Treat the damp area with a mild bleach solution a few times, give it time to dry out . Open windows in a morning and let the air circulate & also dont be frightend to get the heating on as well. Also if the windows are condensed up in a morning , get yourself a karcher window vac & some paper towelling to wipe around the windows.
Since i have done this in my bungalow , there is no sign of condensation on the walls anywhere in the house.
Dont be frightend , its not a big job , & hardly any money involved.
Once you are happy you have cured the problem , then decorate.0 -
