very poor customer service ,phone time service is a disgrace, over priced on fuel you state you don't charge standing charge when you do as its on the high price unit of gas ie 7.9p kwh when others charge 3.3p kwh and standing charge so it works out cheaper to go else where so the facts shows in your case you would need to spend £40 per mth to get on the lower rate of gas then it would be reset at the beginning of a mth back to spending £40 before the lower rate is applied and you state free meters even after the government states you cannot advertise it as been free because there not free at all and everyone in the top 6 supplies cannot understand your unit prices so that states a lot your ripping people off to suite your own needs and profit just like you stopped the 4000 of your own customers moving across and the 10000s of complaints that are available online that's why I'm changing over bad service from utilita my gas went from £30-40mth to £110 you never told anyone about the cold weather payments just posted it on facebook then blamed the dwp and told me it was down to them when it was down to you as its a tax break government only tell you how many customers you can take on !!!!!!!:money:

Most Energy suppliers with Zero SC will charge you a lot more for the unit price per kWh. Always best to look at the overall cost.0

More heat than light. The cheapest deal depends on your annual usage in kWhs/year and postcode. I cannot comment on your chosen supplier’s level of customer service but I cannot see how this could be construed as a scam. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Its not a scam but it does show just how expensive prepay gas is compared to a fixed deal.
Inputting average usage figures into a comp site it shows that Utilita smart energy plan does away with standing charges but resorts back to a gimmicky 2 tier tariff.
It is £57 a year more expensive than the cheapest (Iresa ) who use standing charges. So not overly expensive and cheaper than most of the other prepayment meter suppliers.
The best bet is to ditch the prepay meter and its tier 1 rate of over 7 p/kwh ( tier 2 is 3.1p kwh ) and get a credit meter installed where you may be able to get down to 2.75 p/kwh and 21p a day standing charges with Daligas for instance.
Sounds better than a whopping 7p /kwh !
You need to get an accurate yearly kwh usage to input into comparison sites like Uswitch before calling any supplier a scammer, and do it in both prepay and credit meter to see the difference available0 -
I'm guessing these PAYG Gas Zero SC deals look very good in Summer when your gas use is tiny but suddenly not so good in Winter?0

I worked in Utilita's telesales team for over a year, so I'll try and explain.
Unless it's changed recently, the first unit rate is applied to the first 180kwh only. In your case 7.9p/kwh x 180 = £14.22. That's effectively your standing charge because apart from summer months, you'll easily use that. It works out at 46.75p a day.
It's only really beneficial if you use VERY little energy as both electric and gas have a 2-tier rate that change after 180kwh, so unless you use less than this per month it doesn't generally work out in your favour. If you use more than the average household, it's usually better to find a tariff with a lower unit rate providing the SC is not ridiculous.
We used to get a lot of landlords switch because their empty properties, garages, etc were using no energy so it benefitted them. Having said that, only one supplier regularly came out cheaper than them when comparisons were made. With the price cap on Prepayment now, a good 15 suppliers were in a bracket that separated them by about £5 because it's made things a much more level playing field, if you went on OFGEM averages.0 -

Not quite correct, the SC equates to 180 x ((7.903 - 3.291)=4.612) = £8.30 per month or 27.4p per day. OP complains that others charge 3.3p when in fact they are paying 3.291p, high but nowhere near extortionate. OP is a rant about something they do not understand rather than a reasoned argument.
I knew i'd worked that out wrong, what a plonker. One day I spent hours calculating this kind of thing as they'd published their TCR totally wrong and had to amend it because of my findings.
But yes, it's not a scam, just very cleverly worded.0 -
My utilta rates are gas 17.779p for first 200kw 4.647p thereafter.
electronic 30.025p 14.959p thereafter so how mutch will this be a month before get lower rate as thinking of changing to bolb that had a standard change but not as complex as utilta.
Thanks In advance0 -
The no standing charge with a two tier tariff should be banned as they mislead, they are not a no standing charge tariff. The standing charge is simply, for gas, 200x(17.779-4.647) = £26.26 per month and for electric 200x(30.025-14.959) = £30.13 per month. Both are extortionate, I currently pay 10p per day or £3.00 per month. The gas price is also a rip off, you should easily get around 3.5p. Put your annual kWh use into a comparison site and see what comes out.0

Are Utilita scamming all those who migrated from Eversmart?
I'm one of those who was migrated to Utilita from Eversmart.
I've raised a complaint and finally got my Eversmart end meter readings confirmed. I took these readings on the day of the takeover and submitted them some time ago and also wrote them down.
On reading the end readings on my final eversmart statement I see that all figures for gas and two tier economy seven electricity entered are less than I submitted.
So are Utilita reducing the amount of money due to Eversmart and increasing the amount to be paid to Utilita at their increased rates or have I missed something?
Is this the same for everyone?
By the way I think they are very expensive.1
