HSBC and the SO

Back in Febuary my partner managed to finally cancel a SO from HIS account for a loan that his Ex-partner had taken out. It took us quite a lot of disscussion with the bank to get them to cancel it. Being that it is £200 a month and we are having some financial problems this was a huge relief.
I check internet banking today and they have reinstated the SO with no notice and to add insult to injury have taken 2 payments totalling nearly £400.
They have made us Overdrawn when they took the first lot on the 16th and have just taken the majority of our rent money and car payment with the second!!!
Surely they can't just take money like that...the loan isn't even ours.
Now as per usual I'm waiting for them to call me back and let me know what the hell is going on.
I don't know what to do if they wont cancel the SO again and put the money back into our account.

That's very strange ... a standing order is your instruction to pay a specific amount on specific dates. They have absolutely no authority to pay any other amount. Are you sure it's SO and not direct debit?
Can you not cancel it on internet banking?
I would write - always do this kinda stuff in writing - stating that the SO was cancelled in February and that the payments recently taken were without the accountholder's authority. Ask for the payments to be reversed and all charges removed i.e. you want to be put back to the position you were in, before they made this mistake.
Are you sure your partner's ex has no authority on the account? Was she ever a signatory on the account? I'm just wondering, if she was, HSBC may have accepted a new instruction from her! :eek:Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
With my HSBC account it is perfectly possible to cancel a SO using online banking ,and with almost immediate effect, so I don't understand how it took so long and also how it has been re-instated. You can set up the SO online as well so I think you need to do some investigative work and find out who's kidding who over this one.0

The So is for a personal loan thru HSBC. Ihave just spoken with them and they have no written confirmation that it was cancelled and also no written confirmation that it was reinstated!! So where was the payment in March and April? I have also just been told that someone whether its us or partners ex will have to pay it!!0

His ex's thats whats so infuriating0

That must be very annoying. Surely they have no right to take his money if it isn't his name on the loan and without his agreement.
If they have no 'written communication' I'd start writing letters (recorded delivery of course). They'd soon have some then.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

According to them it doesnt matter whose name the loan is in...if they cant take the money from her account then his will do.0

If he's been the one that's been paying it in the past they have probably associated your partner and his ex together...resulting in the "as long as someone pays it we don't care". Have you asked about making a formal complaint?
I am just guessing here, as I haven't personally experience this.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

I'm not sure if we have a right to complain? According to the way they phrase it, it would seem that its perfectly acceptable for a loan that isnt yours to be paid from your money. If I helped myself from your wallet isn't that theft? Seems the bank has their own rules about theft.
What makes it worse is we have been battling to stay in credit to avoid anymore charges and we did it this month....until now. I reckon the bank is worried they will go bust if they cant squeeze every penny out of this account0 -
What I think has actually happened is that his ex has not agreed to have t5he loan paid from her account so they have conviently lost all the paperwork and just bunged it back to my partner.0
