Bra size - where to get checked

  • According to a Which? survey I read, everyone is crap for bra fitting. They only focused on chain stores (eg M&S, Debenhams, John Lewis etc) but none of them were any use and some were terrible. One sold a 90yo woman a push up bra! Their advice was to take as many bras as possible into the changing room and keep trying till you find one that feels right. I usually put some clothes on over the top when I've found what feels like the 'right' one to make sure it looks okay with clothes on! Alas bravissimo do most of their business online and only have a couple of stores, hopefully they'll roll out a few more across the UK if they're that good!

    I'm no expert, but I'll have a look. :D

    (Sorry!)
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

You will probably find that your size varies according to the brand and style of bra.

If you have bigger boobs (I love that word!), I (and many others!) would recommend Bravissimo.

I would avoid Marks and Spencer, and I think the service in Debenhams and John Lewis is variable.

Don't always assume you have one bra size either. I'm mostly one but depends on make and style. I like Bravissimo as they go on whether the bra fits you rather than what official size you are.

    I thought I was a 36C until Debenhams measured me as a 32F!!!

Well fitting bras have made a massive improvement to the way I look. I have been back for a re-check after a year and still the same.

I find the 'Gorgeous' range at Debenhams very good, lots of support and very pretty bras. My sports bras are Anita and Panache, love those too.

    Good luck!

Debenham's are very good for small-boobed women. I like their own brand gel bras (called 'ultimate' I think), and there is also a multi-way one in the same range which is useful for wearing under halter necks. These are the only bras that fit me. The women in there are helpful too.

    Hello,

I would like to make a positive comment about m+s- as ive had no problems with their measuring service at all. I try to go at a quiet time though, so i dont feel rushed. I saw a fantastic lady only about a month ago-who took ages with me, as im picky and wanted to make sure the fit was perfect aswell i needed a good sports bra!

I was wearing the wrong size for ages, i think a common mistake is for ladies to wear too big a size in the band and not big enough in the cup! I had to go down a band size and up two cup sizes! I wasnt as flat chested as i first thought!

So dont put m+s down too much-as a lot of people have had positive experiences with them.

I do agree that shops/brands vary in sizes too-so never buy a bra without trying it on first and idealy get one of the ladies to re-measure you if you havent been for a while as boobs can change size without you reasling ie with weight loss/gain/going on pill etc.

(can i ask why is only bigger breasted ladies who post about bras usually?!)

    keely.

I agree with you. I started to take my daughter (now 17)to the one in Sunderland a few years back, they were brilliant in advising her which style she was allowed to wear, and shes grown up realising the importance of wearing properly fitted bras. The first visit, we were there nearly 2 hours  finding the right bras for her, nothing was too much trouble either.

Cool :) I'm gonna be in cardiff after Xmas will give it a go :T
  • Because we find it really hard to find bras that fit us!!

I can get quite disheartening going into lots of different shops that claim to cater for the larger sizes - then you search rigously for your size, only to find they don't go that big!!!

Haven't tried figleaves yet, but can highly recommend Bravissimo. Strange way of measuring (no tape measures involved - just the eye!).

It did freak members of my family out that I could fit one cup of my bra on my head! (well I was very pleased to get my boobs of my stomach!!!)
