I would second elsien's advice.
Please get a proper assessment for your gran, not something off ebay which may cause her injury (especially if DIY fitted).
Have you looked at the links I provided @ post 2?
Here is some more info from Sunderland Council:

Your gran's council have a statutory duty to:
"to look after your wellbeing -
Maintaining your personal dignity (including treating you with respect)
Looking after your physical and mental health, as well as your emotional wellbeing
Supporting you to take control over your own day-to-day life (including care and support and the way it is provided)
Making sure your living accommodation is suitable for you and your needs"
As her carer you should be supported as well.

Thankyou for that,I'm going to look at the Sunderland council website now0

How about putting one side of the bed along a wall and placing a rolled up duvet on the floor at the other side? My son did this for the high beds in their caravan, when my grandchildren were tiny.0

I think I've just got into my head social services are just going to ship everyone of a certain age into a care home but I guess if there's family willing to help they will help us keep her at home.
Don't be scared of social services. They're not evil people who steal old people away!
Obviously they have a duty of care if the situation is too dangerous at home, but if the old person and family really want them to stay at home, they will do everything they can to make that happen.
My Dad is severely disabled following a stroke. He's been assessed but he's still living at home as that's where he wants to be.
Have a look at this website as well:
http://www.sunderlandcarers.co.uk/
They are staffed by wonderful people who are extremely helpful. There is a lot of support out there for your Gran and also for yourself. They will sort out all sorts of things like making sure you're getting the right benefits, helping to get any equipment you need and providing social support. My parents go to carer social groups which are a good way of finding support from others in the same situation as you, and they've had some fun trips out as well.
There are charities who will be able to offer further help and advice as well. https://www.ageuk.org.uk/ and https://www.dementiauk.org are two that we used when my Gran was suffering with dementia.
Best of luck with everything xxHere I go again on my own....0 -

Not wishing to sound harsh but my late mum received those three and it came to over £200 a week and her rent was paid in full by HB. Can't she afford a suitable bed herself? Or just get a rail for the existing bed?

If we could afford it I wouldn't have applied.
It's a lot to pay in one go.0
