OK Ive tried to put this on the BT website but their forum doesn't seem great and is only possible apparently to post in certain browsers.

Im not even sure this is the best place but maybe someone can help.

I use to be with EE im now with BT on my mobile which is great.

The only problem im having is whenver im out my phone is continually looking for a BT hotspot using BT WIfi -FON or whatever its called. Which would be great but it causes many problems.

Niw ive searched the internet and some people suggest forgetting the certain wifis it searched for, the problem is its always searching , the other alternative is just to turn off wifi , which seems ok but you end up using lots of data and also forget about it so don't always but wifi back on.

I just wondered if anyone has a solution where you can stop your bt phone constantly searching for bt wifi hotspots whilst keeping wifi on.

    Which phone do you have?
I think you'll find it's just searching for open networks, and BT Wifi with FON happens to be one of the main ones.
My android phone has a setting in wifi/advanced that is Network Notification so it receives notifications when open networks in range are detected so mine is unchecked so I don't get any notifications.

I second the OPs frustrations. I have a BT mobile sim too and I'm always getting notifies about the same hotspot. When I had the BT WiFi app installed it would automatically connect to it but usually reception and range was so slow it was not even worth the bother. I took BT WiFi app off the phone but still the phone keeps trying to connect to BT WiFi with FON. Is there a universal setting in android or Samsung s8 which forgets this network or is turning WiFi off when out and about the best option?.

I have 20gb data per month so prefer to use data when out anyway

in the normal wifi settings, you can 'forget ' any referencing BT in the ap name.
on some droids, you may have to go to the dots in the top right of the wifi page to view saved networks. then again, delete bt ones.

You can always change the name of your own WiFi to something else that does not have BT in the name.

Someone else told me to do this...

Settings, Connections, WiFi, Advanced, Uncheck Auto Connect
