hes fine for Pripsen or Ovex. you can give him Ovex suspension if it makes it easier0

LOL we used to be given little brown discs called worm cakes. Just a fact of life0

To prevent nits - don't wash your kids hair! I stick to once weekly (if we are lucky) hair washing and my kids have never had headlice even after 4 years at school and my daughters hair is waist length.
I remember the itchy bottom problem as a child too. My mum put me in a warm bath...0 -
Thanks again, just finished having a really good clean so everything is nice and clean, bedclothes are in the wash. I got some Pripsen so we have all have that. I am sure it won;t seem so bad the next time they get them, I've read all sorts on the internet though - they sure know how to scare the pants out of you!!0

I often wonder why nits and worms have evolved,I mean most things have a point for existing but parasites, why?
One more thing for Mums to worry about I suppose!!Away with the fairies.... Back soon0 -
I saw some programme the other week, think it was called Body Scavengers or something like. This guy purposefully consumed a tapeworm and filmed it growing inside him, it was a good few weeks before he got the squits though. Sorry I don't know what to do to treat them, I hope you get it sorted out. One thing I could suggest is to give your little one plain yoghurt with the acidophilus bacteria in it (good bacteria) as the worms will have caused a major upset in the bacterial balance of your son's stomach. Garlic is a natural antibiotic also, but the thing is it kills ALL the bacteria in your gut
good and bad.
As for nits, just continual combing with conditioner and a Nitty Gritty comb which you can get on prescription if you print off the letter from the Nitty Gritty comb website.
Hope you get things sorted out.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
My 5 year old has had them a few times. I tried to tell him to open the boys toilets with his shoulder or elbow and to use the wee wee wall instaed of a cubicle at school, otherwise he's touching the outer door, the inner door, the cubicle door, lift the seat, back out the cubicle door, maybe rinse his hands (hopefully but Im sure not always!!), then the inner door then the outer door. Yuk! And all of it many times a day.
He will take the banana flavoured ovex suspension, but not the orange tablets (I also use express chemist)0 -
As others have said: it's part of childhood. The older they get, the longer the time is between infestations (thank goodness!). Worms are much easier than nits, especially when you have girls with long hair!
The important thing with threadworms, I've found, is that you re-treat the whole family at around 2 weeks after the first treatment. It says exactly how long on the threadworm tabs pack. Also, ask for a family pack of Ovex (treats 4) or generic/Boots equivalent. It's cheaper, if you have to pay for them. I always bought two packs so I wouldn't forget, and wrote it on the calendar.Debbie0 -
Hiya,
Glad your getting things sorted.
Horrible, scary things they are! Lol
When my daughter was in nursery/reception she was always catching them. Ick! Son hasn't had them once and he's 13 now!
We had the orange tablets...again all in the house have to take them...symptoms or no symptoms. Damp dust bedroom with window wide open. Hot wash bed clothes and linen ( remembering to gather the linen up and not throw it about as the eggs can travel in the air) and a good wipe down with disinfectent in communal areas. Drill in the 'wash your hands & scrub your nails' routine as well as the 'don't put your fingers in your mouth!' one!
Soon sorted but they used to horrify me!!
Daughter is 8 now but we had visitors regular when she was younger...nits, worms, impetigo, chickenpox...anything going she would catch it!
Don't worry...at least you'll be prepared for the next time! Arrghhh!;)!!73lb lost!!
