Whats your savings goal?

Hey,

Pretty much everyone on here is saving, but what are we all saving for?

Personally me.. I'm saving to escape my town and move to London I think. I wanna experience living there, for a bit anyway.

Long term - House/Flat deposit. I don't wanna purchase for years but the cost of houses I might aswell start now.

That's a good thing to save for, London can be an exciting place to live (but also some grim places, choose carefully!).

    Where are you moving from?

Wife and I are saving for a rainy day at the moment, and using some towards paying off the mortgage when we can.

I live in Shrewsbury. It's not bad or anything, just a bit boring and got a lot of people who are like 'yeah its the best place in the world' = becuase they've never left the postcode area. Also I don't think i'll be finding a boyfriend here lol :-|

Well, good luck and make it happen!

When I visit Somerset where I grew up, it's strange to think that some old friends have lived there all their lives.

Still, we're all different and as long as they're happy good luck to them.

I was born in London and could'nt wait to move out. It's maybe exciting when you visit, but I would'nt want to live there again.

    Hi!
I'm saving for a bigger house. Me, hubby and 2 boys live in a 3 bed but we want to adopt a baby and would like to move to a bigger house first.

I worked in London a lot last year (spending between 2 and 4 nights a week down there) and as a small town girl it was definitely an experience that I'm glad I've had (prob wouldn't do it again thou!). Prices to rent are ridiculous - although I found the rest of living reasonable. There are so many restaurants, bars, things to do that I think the competition means there's always a good deal to be had. Plus a very good value and reliable transport system (£1 on the tube/bus with an oyster compared with £3.50 here!) Plus wages are generally higher.
If its your dream then go for it! - whats to lose?

Go for it - you get one life and its too short to be thinking 'what if?'

Yeah, the wages are much higher in London. That's one thing that's good about it. I guess it's an experience, and if you want to do it then go for it! Good Luck. Hope it works for you.

I want some emergency cash. I know we get told that having savings while you have debt is pointless but I have been stung before in that my relationship ended suddenly and i was left with 36p to my name. I had nowhere to go and no way to pay for it if i had!!

I promised myself I would never be in that situation again. But here i am, 8 years later and i'm once again totally dependent on my other half. Now i think we're pretty solid, but i thought that before. I want to know that if it were all to end tomorrow I would be able to at least get myself a room somewhere!

So I start saving from now. I'd like to have a buffer of about £1000. It will take a while, but I'd rather have the safety net should it all go wrong!!
  • My goal is to learn how to save.

I've recently spent 4 years worth of savings. And I have almost £3k (which is not a lot for 4 years). In that time, I've moved out... (i'm renting), have bought myself a new Digital Piano and things I love.

Now I want to concentrate on saving again so I can start looking for something else.
