How far into your pregnancy did you buy a cot, and other necessities? I'd like to take advantage of the sales, but it seems a bit early

After 20 week scan was when we started buying things. Bought things quite spread out whenever there was a good deal on something.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,0000 -
As late as possible, and as a result about the only thing I had to buy was a changing mat.
Aunt offered me a Silver Cross pram, which fortunately I had room for. Her daughters had used it for their children, and I'm not sure if before that my mother had used it for us, or whether it had been my aunt's ...
Aunt also gave me a cot, again used by her grandchildren, and I think her children before that.
In-laws bought me a second hand Silver Cross pushchair.
After the birth I bought a lightweight pushchair for the car, secondhand.
Moses basket from an NCT sale?
Honestly the only thing I remember buying new was that changing mat, which I bought in the early stages of labour ... which is possibly leaving it a bit late! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
With my youngest about 8weeks as there was a pushchair on sale for a ridiculous price (think it was less than £30, suitable from birth with footmuff, rain covers etc)
There's no right or wrong answer. Some prefer to wait in case something happens others are happy to buy immediately.0 -
From about 6mths.Store kept the pram and cot until I came out of hospital. Don't think that would happen now0

I put a deposit on furniture when I was 14 weeks but didn't pay the balance until 26 weeks and it's not being delivered until 30 weeks.
My parents bought us the pram at 16 weeks. I'd have preferred to wait but they were like cats on a hot tin roof, and they actually went and bought it while we were out of the Country and didn't tell us until I was 18 weeks.
Everything else I've been buying along the way as I've seen it on offer - including stocking up on nappies/wipes of various sizes etc so there is less to buy whilst on SMP:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

I am currently 30 weeks, I ordered the pram last week and its due to be delivered this week. I was planning on getting it next month however it went on sale and was too good of a price to miss out on. I brought a moses basket last week too as it was in the sales.
We are lucky and have been gifted a cot and we are collecting that this weekend. If i was was buying one i was going to wait til after baby was born as they wont be sleeping in it straight away.
Similar to kirstypoos, I have brought wipes etc when they have been on offer.
I think its worth taking advantage of the sales if you can as it would be a shame to buy something exactly the same in a few months time for more money0 -
I was determined to wait until 20 week scan, but I've bought some clothes in the sales (half price M&S babygros, sleepsuits, sleeping bags and some cute bibs) after Christmas.
In the meantime I'm doing plenty of research into what we want and how much it costs - yep, I have a spreadsheet shopping list. I have been collecting freebies like a crazy lady too, the only "big" thing we have is a baby box with mattress and sheet, which was freeIn a bit of a quandary as the pushchair we think we will go for is £440 everywhere, except for 5 on eBay (in a certain colour) which are £299. I'd feel silly buying one before my scan (30 January) but if they all go I'd never forgive myself if we bought it anyway at £141 extra. Awkward isn't it? I'm happy that nothing else I'm looking at it in offer now, or likely to be. I think that has to be part of the consideration.
If I wasn't so stingy I'd get a Silvercross Wayfarer Chelsea though :happyheart20 -
Started picking up bits and bobs after 20 week scan, started getting the bigger stuff around 6 months.0

I waited until 20 week scan until I bought anything, I started with clothes/bottles. Im 23 weeks now and saw a good price for a second hand immaculate travel system on a selling page so bought that. Haven't bought any cot or other big items yet.June 2015 Debt - £23643 // March 2018 Debt - £1490
