I think the scared/nervous/excited/doubting crazy feelings are perfectly normal. House purchasing is a huge undertaking in the best of circumstances. I hope you are able to find a job youre comfortable with. I work from home 100% but I am an intense introvert so I have no problem being home all day, every day. Maybe once you settle in, you may get to know some neighbours, make friends and can meet for coffee or lunch so you feel like you have a balanced social life.
It will take awhile to know the budget for the new house in the first few months so don't fret too much about not knowing all the numbers right away. This is an exciting new chapter in your life. Enjoy your Shire.

    Hey LeighofMar,

Thanks for the encouragement, I do have a tendency to be a bit of an over thinker. The area I am moving to is where I am from originally, so I do know plenty of people there already. I popped down this weekend and had a fantastic time, so now I just can't wait to get down there and start to get settled in.

    Afternoon all,

I hope all is well with everyone. Today is hopefully exchange day *fingers crossed*. We did try to exchange last Friday, but my buyer didn't respond before the solicitors closed unfortunately.

I took £8.34 out of my Quidco account last week and moved it into the over payment pot, so I have £122.82 sitting there ready to go for when we complete and I have the new mortgage. The plan is to exchange today with completion next Monday on the 15th.

I also have a few bits that will hopefully be sold and collected this evening. It's not much money, but every penny helps and is a penny I am no longer paying interest on.

    Toodles!

Runders, I am so glad to see you are back!! I am sorry to hear about the distress you had for a few months and I'm so excited for you for your change. Well done for getting rid of some belongings, it makes moving easier and is a nice little sum. Good luck moving.

    Hey Tropically,

it's good to be back. I've been catching up on your diary and you seem to be doing so well with everything!

I've been doing some volunteering recently too at a few museums. I had a great chat to a young lad about Marine Biology yesterday - really making me feel useful again and re-engaging my love for the subject. :)

In fact I shall head over an catch up on the last few posts in your diary now.

Well.....no exchange and no solicitors for my vendors, as they have just been taken over by another company today.......no one thought to tell all of us this was happening and my solicitor is furious. I am going to need a miracle at this rate!

    Hi Runders,

Sorry to hear about your vendors solicitors, that is ridiculous! Hope you get it all sorted soon.
I'm also really glad you enjoyed your trip to your hometown and that it laid some fears to rest.

Fingers crossed for a speedy exchange!

I'm in!!!! I got the keys yesterday, threw my stuff in as we needed to get the van back, and then went to friends and drunk too much fizz. Bit of a head today, and I have the day ting task of starting to sort it all out.

I logged onto my mortgage to set up my regular overpayment today, seeing such a large figure was a shock to the system. I'm overpaying by £102.61 each month to make it an even £800.
My aim is to bring the monthly payment down to begin with whilst I settle in, and then switch over to reducing the term.

Right to the shop for essentials and then to crack on
