In an RSPCA shop yesterday I spotted a pair of Hotter blue velcro-fastened summer shoes. They were somewhat scruffy on the sides and top, although strangely the soles didn't seem to have much wear. I asked if the £23 price label was the shop's or from a previous life - yes it was theirs, because "they are Hotter you know". I wasn't even tempted, you don't go into a charity shop to spend that sort of money on second hand shoes, Hotter or not! Bet they are still there when I next go back.

Clueless pricing (imho).
Conversely I saw a brand new pair of Hotter shoes in a charity shop for £9.99.0 -

Mine's a real vanilla with crushed coffee beans and hazelnuts, if you're asking. Slug of Baileys on top optional
Nothing like home made ice cream:D. Last lot I made was chocolate and orange with a dash of Cointreau0 -

Can I be your new best friend?!
Went into a couple of chazzers this afternoon but didn't buy anything. Have noticed a lot of B & H gift sets or bottles of B & H minus the rest of the set. 'Tis like the first swallow of summer, isn't it?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

I enjoyed reading about all your bargains. I am a donator, not a buyer atm, trying to minimise.
The £23 Hotter shoes made me sigh, . I've also seen a £2.50 in the sales Primarni top for £7... they were taking the proverbial.
My daughter has a lovely charity shop in her little town that just shoves sensible prices on everything. Consequently her wardrobe has some great vintage pieces, picked up for a few quid.
Yesterday she was wearing a lovely black lined with red House of Fraser wool jacket that had originally sported some very early Nineties military-style buttons.
She took them off, and her remodelled jacket looked great.
It had been £3, but she commented on how badly bobbled it was and got it for a quid. It was fine after a session with the razor.
She does donate a lot to the shop as well, it should be said, hence the quid jacket. What goes around comes around.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
that's very expensive for the shoes...I paid £4.99 for an unworn looking pair of clarks pump style shoes but I think that's as much as I would think of paying had a look yesterday but nowt I fancied planning a little trip tomorrow so hopefully some bargains :jonwards and upwards0

My latest bargain - that I had to leave on the rail and have a wander round to think about before going back in and buying - was an AIGLE trenchcoat/raincoat.
I'd not heard of this make before but it really shouted 'quality' in the fabric and style.
It's brown check with the check being more shadow-y IYSWIM and has that extra bit across the shoulders at the back but it also comes under the arms and across the chest (sounds awful, but it looks great).
It has a button-off hood that actually fits, the belt is held on with an extra piece of material that buttons off and the back split has a concealed button. Lots of small but lovely details.
It did cost £6.50  but the nearest I could find on their website (French company) was this one priced at £240:

but mine looks a lot more stylish and is just below the knee on me.
The label on the coat says it's made from MDT material which apparently is:Protection in all kinds of weather. Aigle MTD® clothing is waterproof with taped seams, it is windproof and breathable, and evacuates the moisture from the body.
Bargain even at that price? What do you think?
I also bought a paste 'diamond' brooch, inch-square cushion shape, to go on this cardi/jacket:And a M&S short grey thick cardigan/jacket with black trim round the neckline, side edges, sleeves and bottom of the jacket.
50% merino wool, 50% viscose.0 -
Pollycat - that coat is an absolute bargain - it should last a long time and will be eminently suitable for our weather! I sail ( in the summer!) and windproof, waterproof clothing is always v expensive.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
