You've had me racking my brains here! The usual chazzers are along the main road and are just ok, but I found my best bargains in the city to be had in DEBRA which I'd never heard of before and is very slightly off the beaten track. I'm sure I just Googled "charity shops near me" when I got to the station and it threw up a load. There's also a chazzer bookstore near Royal Exchange Sq, not Oxfam but a private one. Loads of good books, but nothing to be had at my usual price (I normally resist paying over £1 per book).

Yesterday I bought just the one book, by Fidel Castro for the grand sum of 50p :D

  • Most of the 'chain' shops will have been told to alter their shops to autumn/winter stock by mid September at the latest so they should be getting rid of summer stock in half price or £1.00 rails.

My happy man has spotted someone's under appreciated cooking tackle, specifically decorating syringe and nozzles (metal), & decorating stencils (£3 the lot) and a box of T pins - the latter £1.49 when eBay has fewer for £23.99....

QED, although admittedly from a small regional chain:

3 blouses from the chazzer for £1 each - 2 Monsoon silk and one Next. 2 of the 3 I'll get a lot of wear out of, the other just on special occasions. Nonetheless, I doubt I will part with any of them for years.
Plus 4 books for £1.20, one of which was a classic, and another on my P'interest wishlist, and one an all time favourite of mine in mint condition (clue: yellow plums, anyone? :D).

Byres Rd near the university has loads ranging from jumble sale type to expensive boutiquey ones. I don't live in Glasgow but have had some good trips. There are also a few around the main shopping precinct.
