A Baret ware tin tray - £1.500

Had to google baret ware but wow - that looks to have been an impressive bargain!
Away training, I found my hotel had a sauna, but with a mandatory swimwear dresscode. So I hit the charity shops (tricky while working in a strange town with major roadworks) & slunk away clutching a love island swimsuit in justabout my size still with all its hygenic tags so I saunaed!
And it occurs to me m'lady mother was intrigued by this whole love island phenomenon & so I can wash & gift it on to her as a somewhat unbecoming daughterly prank & she can donate it. I'm hoping both she & m'father laugh.
That seasalt top I found carries on generating waves of goodwill - she wears it a lot. Maybe I should route the swimsuit to a sibling instead, or just bite the bullet & donate it anonymously...0 -
A much needed day off work today, and amongst the errands to run I had time to nip in to a charity warehouse in a nearby town. I bought two nice tops for work (a Roman one and a Jacques Vert) for two pounds each, a hardback book Economy Gastronomy by Allegra McEvedy for 50p, a set of three oblong plastic fridge organiser baskets with handles (from Lakeland I think, I have been after these for a while) for 50p and two clear Pyrex glass oblong pie dishes for a pound the pair.0

Called into the Sue Ryder shop yesterday...spotted a bnwt Paul Costelloe top priced at £2. Made from cream coloured fabric that i thought would be silk but on inspection proved to be polyester. Decided it was either a copy or PC has gone downhill so left it. (Come to think of it I have seen loads of PC stuff in TkMaxx lately....have they become the B & H of the fashion world??;))0

I had to buy an outfit for the Races earlier in the week and was relieved to be able to find a suitable dress for £6.99 and a lovely hat for £5.00. The shoes and bags were model's own! I managed also to find three tops in new condition, with spare buttons still in plastic bag in two cases, for £1 each. Also five glass storage containers with bright red tops for £1 each. Also a pair of very dressy sandals with fantastic rhinestone detail (detachable) £3.50 - not my size but will be cannibalised to make a pair of dressy shoes for Christmas or similar. All in all a very successful and inexpensive day.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Remember last year when Ted Baker was donating surplus stock to Oxfam shops? Well, I just passed my local Oxfam shop on the way to the optician, (Specsavers...grrrrr nearly as bad as the Post Office for trying to upsell you loads of things and services you don't want!) and spotted a Ted Baker shoe box in the window. Was a bit late so didn't have time to stop then but decided to call in on my way back. The box was half buried under piles of Fair-trade stuff and I had a right tussle to get to it without falling over but determination won the day. Inside was a pair of brand new black leather ankle boots, (Lorca 2 is the style) with tiny gold zips up the back of the wood effect, stacked high heel and with a discrete gold trim where the sole meets the uppers. According to the box they were a size bigger than I usually take but I tried them on and they were perfect. Then to try to find the price ticket. Could not believe my eyes when I saw it...£9.99! This Oxfam is notorious for overpricing stuff....e.g. asking £3 for a worn Primark t shirt which cost £2.50 new! The assistant said she had only just put them out on sale and that they had been told to expect more Ted Baker items, as last year. Just done a quick Google and found said boots on Amazon selling at £256.38

Today I snaffled 4 books for £1, including one about Gandhi, Bonfire of the Vanities and an Aldous Huxley. Best of all - not a chazzer shop find but a freebie - I reclaimed something that would otherwise have cost me the best part of £1,000! Good things come to those who wait, and I've been waiting since December for this. I just didn't expect to be given it by a kind stranger :dance:Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
