  • The number of posts that appeared after the code was posted yesterday (albeit due to a heated discussion) highlight the reason why we have a separate codes thread.

Some of us just dip in- I go straight to the codes thread when I get home from work, usually because I only have a couple of minutes left before the code expires. This stops me having to sift through the days discussion on this thread to find the code.

Therefore the code thread has a very obvious purpose.

Seems this Browntrout or whatever its called has nothing better to do so has deleted the posts put up about the just expired code. I find them useful on here, doesn't hurt anyone so so what if they are on here?

Ah well, it will keep them busy :) Interestingly, the post telling people that my post was incorrect and that you couldn't enter is on the home page wasn't a duplication, but was also deleted. Tut tut

Personally I find it odd that anyone would want to delete post from here and why has it been done as quit a few of us have been posting for years now it has become a problem

I just think the whole thing is really petty. Seems to me s/he should concentrate on posts which spam the boards, or are made for the purpose of gratuitous unpleasantness, or whatever. Just silently deleting perfectly harmless and acceptable posts is likely to destroy a community which has grown up around this forum.

I moderated a web forum for 15 years or so, and I never deleted a post silently; I would always leave the date/time and the name of the poster, with a comment that the post content had been deleted and the reason why. In almost every case, the reason was that it was potentially libellous. Stuff which wasn't a serious problem, I just left alone.

Oh bother! I should have copied the page, done a series of screenprints or something. I don't know if any of mine were deleted, I don't think so, but I can't tell what has and hasn't gone. Nor have I had a reply to my complaint. I hope they bother with replying.

MollyR makes a really good point about *how* deletion should happen, and thats exactly my experience on other forums. MSE is so popular, and the Guides have often been going for so long, best practice gets a bit lost, I think.

This makes complete sense. Clearly the host has a role to play. Just look at the Swag Games comments boards where posts have been systematically flagged/removed for over a year now. The system goes wrong when the host has no safeguards in place and a user gets out of control. I had never thought about on here before as it's not been an issue but if innocent posts have been taken off there's an issue.

Personally, I like it that Swagbucks related posts are all together in a separate thread - I didn't know there was a dedicated code thread and find people who post codes here helpful. I have done it myself from time to time,

Bit of feedback on Booking Buddy under "shop" - this seems to pay the 10 SB after 30/31 days with no problem for completed searches - Have received 120 SB so far with 290 pending.
