Can Broadband Companies Refuse to Put Details of New Contract in Print?

Hi
I have recently haggled a new contract with Sky for Unlimited Broadband Phone Line and Anytime Phone Calls 24/7 for £26.99 a month for 12 months. At least that is what I thought!
This was a verbal agreement with Sky over the phone. Yesterday I phoned Sky and asked for details including the monthly cost of the 12month contract in print, in an email or letter. The first answer from them was "no we can't". I politely asked "why not?", they replied "we don't do that"! They wouldn't discuss the subject any further.
Does anyone know if they are obliged by law to give me this information in print?
Regards
Aaron

Do you not get an automated email confirming the changes anymore? Everytime I have made a change to any of my Sky packages (TV/BB/phone) I've always received an automated email which explained what had changed.
I'm assuming by your 'at least that is what I thought' comment that Sky have now renaged on the offer? It may not be a bad thing though, as £26.99 seems to be the standard price advertised on the website so you definitely have room to do better than that offer!0 -
Yes, there was an automated email, but the contracted price per month that I'd agreed with them wasn't included in it.
I thought that the £26.99 per month was going to be for 12months, but I suspect now that they hold back from putting the agreed monthly cost in print, so that they can increase it after a few months.
At the beginning, before I phoned them the first time in December, the best offer from another broadband provider that I could find for: broadband + phone line rental + anytime phone calls was EE at £26.06 per month.0 -
The contract ts and cs wil undoubtedly permit price rises in line with inflation and increased taxes etc and a get out for the customer should they want price rises in excess of inflation etc0

It's very rare to get a fixed price contract with them; more likely, as with others, is a fixed discount, expressed as a percentage.0
