It might be a long shot but try freecycle or similar maybe for the jug and scales?
I normally allow myself £50 a month for my spending but am thinking of changing that to £1 per day- except I've already gone over that this month. I suppose I paid for some birthday presents which are normally included in a different allowance.
What things do you actually include in the £1. ?
A friend has a spare jug, scales can be bought cheap enough
Going to try including everything apart from rent, utilities, council tax
So all food, household stuff, eating out , entertainment . I don't live in the biggest of places so there isn't a lot of free events on. I do like to read and spend time doing craft stuff . I'm also not starting from scratch so its about using what i have already and having a more minimalist lifestyle. Grocery wise i don't have a massive stockpile (maybe a standard kitchen cupboards worth) but bathroom products might not be needed for the year!. I don't see myself having any problems beginning of the year , depends on how lucky i am with bargains - if i cant get any i might struggle with also wanting to get salads ,veggies etc in diet
I am also hoping to forage for food later in year. There are some nice countryside walks around the town i live£365 a year spend challenge - this has included food/clothes/beauty?? who knows where I am

do you have space for growing veggies? small salady bits can be done on a sunny windowsill but things like tomatoes need tubs really. seeds are cheap and a packet can be shared with friends0

I have tried to sort out my finances. They all came out of "one pot". I think the only way forward is to adopt Jackie O's separate purse for food method. Also,as with others I have "stores". Perhaps I shall have to buy things from myself to keep it true to the 365 challenge ? What are others going to do ? jackel xx0

Well done on hanging on to your pennies today is Day five and nothing spent at all this week.Still using up stuff from left overs that I came home with from Dds after Christmas. I did a stock take of my food supplies and I am hopeing that apart from fresh fruit and veg I will be able to get through Jan=mid Feb without buying very much at all:) I use UHT milk as I don't use a lot of milk and it means a carton lasts me alomost a week at least. Its 40p per litre but I managed to buy a case before Christmas so I shan't need any until mid February. I had also stocked up well on crackers before the holiday as I don't eat bread so no need to buy those either
My purse for food has £60.00 sitting in it and fingers crossed it will still be there until mid week next week. I have quite a bit of veg frozen so I shalluse that up before buying anymore.
Great start to the year chumsrotten weather keeps me indoors as well

No room to grow anything unfortunately.
I do like a nice cuppa several times a day :P worked out teabag cost as 1.25p per cup . I always try and pay no more than £3 for 240 Tetley. I have about 6 packets in the cupboard
Ive just discovered i still have a tkmax giftcard in purse. I think its only a few quid so will see what i can get kitchen scales wise. Measuring jug i think could get from supermarket value range or like poundshop.
Might look into long life milk but long as the yellow stickers keep happening should have no problems with normal milk.
Weathers rubbish ive been good though and read a nice book instead of online shopping. Watching frugal videos on youtube but theres a lot of stuff i wouldn't do anyway so not saving me anything. i have treated myself to heating today lol instead of 3 layers of clothing£365 a year spend challenge - this has included food/clothes/beauty?? who knows where I am

emergency spend er 17p!! got visitors today so would be rude not to have something to eat.
reduced donuts 5p for 5!! i do like the morrisons donuts
4 pack of yougurts 12p - had 2 for breakfast so that makes breakfast 6p plus 2.5p for 2 cups of tea .
Been looking at some of these £1 challenge blogs and trying to adapt them a little. Either the prices are no longer accurate to make them a £! challenge and/or they assume you have cupboard stock aready- in that respect i don't have anything like flours, spices, veg oil..
Todays task should be to get kitchen scales£365 a year spend challenge - this has included food/clothes/beauty?? who knows where I am

Good luck ma-ri-ella
I consider me doing well if my packed lunch costs £1 or under.
Have a lovely time with your visitors.0 -
Something I do think you should look at is building your stock cupboard up so it includes things like flour, oil etc, so you have the ingredients in to make the food, rather than buying. 5p for 5 doughnuts is fabulous don't get me wrong, but if you build up enough items in the cupboards you can make your own biscuits or cake for example. It depends on how you are doing your challenge of course, because baking will also use gas/electricity in your house whilst going to the shops and coming across the 5p bargains will only cost you the 5p and the cost of travelling even if that's just in shoe leather. It would take you over budget to do all this at once, so I'd just make an inventory and start building up gradually.0

a bag of flour some soft marg and sugar will make you melting moments biscuits add whatever you like to them, but they are nice on their ownI make lots of these for my DGS and as teenagers they have hollow legs One likes them made with cinnamon spice two of the others like a bit of ginger spice in theirs .I sometimes add coconut as I like that or just mixed spice or plain they are cheap as chips to make and a lot cheaper than buying biscuits or cookies.Build up a small store of bits maybe a bit every week as your 'treat' from your left over cash You can buy a big bag of flour for about 50p in the supermarket none week and caster sugar the next week (if you have a blender used granulated, but whizz it through the blender first to refine it down a bit ) the next week and on the third week treat yourself to some spices or ask a friend if they have any going spare, most people have over stocked spice cupboards0

Pancakes are my go to for the hollow legged smalls.... very cheap. I nearly always have an egg or two knocking around, flour of some sort and long life milk.0
