I have to buy some stuff at Jessops for an insurance claim, but Jessops are the most expensive around for the new IXUS 50 at £330!!!
You can get same camera most places for £225 and even in Currys at £250!
So the question is will they price match?

yes jessops price match just print of the web page with the price on it and take it to a shop and they will match that price0

You have to be careful with the web site price matching though. They only match uk based web site prices. That excludes Jersey based sites for instance..0

It varies. When I bought my camera they wouldn't price match, but they would knock some off their original selling price. I can't remember the exact numbers now, but it was worthwhile to buy it online rather than Jessops.

Yes, Jessops definitely price match any UK website selling UK cameras (not grey imports). Just print off the page and take it into the store. I usually print a few different websites off and show the cheapest first and then if there's a problem with that one show the next cheapest etc. That way you don't have a wasted journey...Don't blame me, it was like that when I got here!0

i got a 1300 quid sony digital video camera for 999 using their price match. the only condition was that it had to be on sale within 20 miles of the jessops store and from an official sony dealer ... that was about 3 years ago ... maybe their rules have changed0

I went into my local Jessops this week, armed with a print out of web pages.
They price matched instantly, the knocked £80 of the price of a Sony Camera, they even price matched the memory stick that I purchased.
The store will ring up head office for authorisation on the price match, the head office will probably verify the price match & within minutes the store will verify the deal that they can offer you.0 -

Grey imports are ones from OUTSIDE the EU. Anything purchased within the EU MUST be allow free movement / sale and service. Watch out for resellers that say otherwise.
Ebuyer stuff is sources across the EU, most cameras from France. A lot of the Jersey stuff comes from Germany.
If you have goods sourced in the EU any member state must provide support, e.g. a Cannon support desk in the UK must help me with printer problems for a printer I got that was from Belgium as Cannon support the unit in Belgium.
If you get this line
1. Quote the treaty of Rome and point out the action prevents the free movement of goods and services.
2. Take the name of the person who said this, and tape the conversation / ask for them to state the position in writing.
I've dealt with many companies (e.g. computer suppliers) who have said they cannot support kit from the EU, but cave in when you quote the law.
Stuff from Asia, US, Japan is not to be sold in the EU and the manufactures can legitimately seize such goods from retailers as "counterfeit" their words not mine. I personally can’t see an item which is legitimate for the US market, cannot be purchased and sold in the UK. Levi’s took Tesco’s to court over this and won!Seth.0 -

Clearly people's luck varies. I went to the Jessops store on Deansgate in Manchester at the end of last summer, armed with a couple of printouts for a camera, and a couple of printouts for a memory card (all online stores).
Practically the first thing I was told was that they wouldn't reduce the price on the memory at all. I've half-forgotten the numbers for the camera , but it was something like: online £195, Jessops £275, Jessops best price £220.
So I bought it online.

Thanks...
But get this...
When using insurance vouchers (i.e. my insurance company told me to rebuy stuff through them)
They won't drop ANY money as they say they don't have to, I would have had to pay £330 for an IXUS 50 when I can buy one for £200 on net!!! I even phoned head office and they said same. Clearly Jessops are taking full advantage of people here.
So I went back to Insurance company and got what they paid the Jessops vouchers for which was 80% cash of the value and I am now quids in!0
