When is the best time or day to call Sky to haggle as I wish to cut my package from variety to basic as I only need Sky One, Fox, Atlantic and Universal now that I am on my own?

All bar one of those channels (Universal) are on NowTV, £7.99 a month. Just a thought.
But to answer the question, it doesn't really make that much of a difference in my experience whether you call at 9am, 2pm or 6pm. You may do lucky and catch somebody at the end of their shift but you'll never know.0 -

I don't know if you can downgrade to the Original package anymore, they may try to put you on the new Entertainment package which has everything except the kids channels and the extra HD channels. It's available for £20 at the moment for new customers so it may be your best option anyway.0

I am keeping my Sky box because of all my recordings and being able to set recordings remotely from my Android device.
I would need to buy a freesat or freeview recorder if I wanted to record.
When I downgrade to the £20 package I will be saving £12 a month.0 -
Are you out of your minimum term? Not sure if Sky allow changes while you are still effectively tied in.0

Been with Sky since 1990.0 -
This will normally (but not always) be the last time you obtained a discount or new equipment
That would be when Sky went digital.0 -

Just trying to help. You are aware that the recordings from the extra channels in Variety will not play when your 31 days notice to downgrade to Original takes effect?0 -

And you've been paying full price all those years?

You definitely need to haggle and you could potentially cut your bill in half or more. For example, for the same £32 you are paying for variety, I pay for the full TV package plus sports and movies.
Good luck!0
