I'm honoured, seriously **airkisses in apple's direction**  it's the quince that got moved (and is now flowering in its dustbin-and-soil outfit) the mahonia is going to be given a severe haircut on its lower branches, which stop me weeding underneath it.

Truly, I'm shocked!  In a good way they've just got an automatic software thing going on, but its going on **correctly**.  Still very impressed.

I'm not so impressed with the local golf club, however.  There's a public footpath I planned to use with my sister that goes across their land, but the landing page of their website says the course is closed to all except members.  So I phoned up, spoke to a real life person, said I want to use that footpath, is that okay?  Yes.  I want to come in to the club via the main gate, is that okay?  Yes.  We asked directions while we were there too, from a group standing by their outdoor cafe van, that was fine.  Walking towards the gate, though, we were faced with a *lot* of stroppiness, from a *lot* of men - private land, no right of way, yadda yadda, on and on.  We worked hard on keeping it non-confrontational, so we were allowed to continue, but it wasn't a good experience.  We made a massive detour as soon as we got to the footpath, so we didn't have to retrace our steps through the dratted golf course.

Oh for goodness sake - there is no room in this world for that sort of sexist elitist verbal abuse!  We make use of our local golf course's gym (during non-pandemic times) and anyone who took that attitude on club grounds would be sanctioned by the members board & management alike!  Many golf-courses only exist as they are part of green-belts which include public rights of way!

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good at all! Who were these men - employees, or just golfers?? If it's a public footpath, it's a public footpath!

Oddly enough I walked on a footpath myself the other day that necessitated walking up the drive of a golf club and past the course - there were no gates, and I did wonder whether anyone would have stopped me if I'd just waltzed on with a set of clubs 😂 I imagine they would have! But clearly they shouldn't be stopping you just walking! Are you going to bother complaining?

Thank you, lovely ones!  It was a real surprise, I'd worked so hard to make sure we kept to the rules.  I won't bother complaining - I've checked the site on my county's footpaths map, which is very interactive, sigh ... technically, the paths on the golf course don't seem to link up to the north-south path I wanted to reach.  But I'd spoken to the golf club office and specifically asked about that route.  More sighs ... life's too short to complain.  But it does make me think about what you were writing on your thread, Cheery, the same kind of entitled nonsense.

However, it *has* made me dream up scenarios over the summer, if my sister and I are still going walks near my town, *and* I have my electric bike - we could meet up on the far outskirts of my town, I could fold my bike into the boot of her car, and we could pootle in entirely different places from where we pootle now  

Anyway, I was shattered after fast walking for 90 minutes, so nothing else done today Though I did what Ed mentioned on his thread, couple of eggs in coconut oil, beat them together and medium heat for 2 mins 20 in the microwave - startlngly effective, quick fresh protein with no extra washing up!

Right, mw has been on, washing is out, dw is on (and there's leftovers on both machines, gah!), we're plodding on with the attempt to visit the Norfolk rellies, I made a reservation FOC via a travel website at a hotel that all three of us have okayed.  And last night, I finished my mobile back up (3 modern flash drives - not complete, but better than nothing).

So today: finish backing up, onto my new external hard drive; might do another email (4 still to do, the list kept growing!) then its a choice of either tidy the office up (that Christmas wrapping paper is still out!) or clean the patio furniture so I can sit out. 

Won't be able to clean the patio table today: I have to re-site the old litter tray that's currently being used as a birdbath.  There aren't as many cats round here as there used to be, but I'm really not sure where to put it, I still want them to have a bath.  I could certainly try to cobble something together (unused plastic dustbin with an old pane of double glazing, both of which are sitting around the garden right now?  The dustbin is going to have big holes drilled in the bottom and have leaves stored in it, creating leaf mould.

Not bad today, not bad at all.  I finished the backup, named everything that needed naming. 

And I cleaned both patio chairs - I'm *so* glad I bought quality - they're aluminium tubing, nothing else in them.  The table I bought with them disintegrated years ago, literally, it had mdf on the underneath of the table, and it couldn't cope.  My sister's cast-off, a plastic off-white thing, was fine, and once I've disinfected it after the birds have used it, it will be fine again    

One item (the backing up) finally ticked off my list.  Very happy with that.
