Glad you arrived home safely and your intrepid brother reached you safely with the van load of furniture etc. Certainly not the best time for long distance travel but needs must sometimes.
My brother's cremation is on March 14th and I'm keeping everything crossed that the weather is back to normal by then. I will certainly not be driving there and there were so many train cancellations already this week in various parts of the country that even that isn't always a dependable option when the weather is too iffy for driving:(
I wish you the best of luck with the tip run:beer:. Blizzard conditions here at the moment although judging by the TV coverage we missed the very worst of it yesterday. A lot of snow fell overnight and this morning, for the past half hour at least, it's been a total white-out:eek:. I'm so glad I don't have to go out for anything whatsoever for the next few days:j. OH had the first service for his new car booked for this morning but needless to say he cancelled as soon as he opened the bedroom curtains. The garage is 17 miles away and our lane looks impassable at the moment. Nothing whatsoever has been through today yet. It would have been better once he reached the main road but that's over 3 miles away so he decided not to risk it. I think he felt a bit ashamed of himself for not trying but it wasn't an essential journey so why risk it was my advice.0 -

Hello lovely peeps :hello::hello::hello:
Wrapped up very warm, absolutely Madvixand the tip is purpose built, you park right by the entry to the skips, its only a 20 foot walk to each one. Nice modern rental van, it was brilliant, and the front of my house looks *so* much better! My brother would love being described as intrepid
Being out in this cold is very tiring even for these short periods of time, I'm in a "feels like" minus 12 zone, 20mph winds and 37 mph gusts, so I've just been sitting here this afternoonTrip to nephew in London is cancelled, the weather's getting a bit out of hand for inter-city trips.
CBC, I'm sure its wiser not to go out if its at all avoidable - we have this rented van we *have* to use while we've got it, we need to get going on all this - none of us are doing anything once this trip is finished, just waiting for the bad weather to go away.
March 14th for your brother's cremation - two weeks away stillI guess we should be back to "normal" winter by then, but honestly, we can't tell can we? I hope its true, for your sake.
Beanie - are you in that red zone thats been declared? Pretty bad - especially with the falls that you have, I hope you're not planning on going out?
So, while I'm sort of stuck in the house (not really, but going out feels .... Not Useful .... the order of the next few days is:
1. general tidying.
2. sorting patchwork stash - completed/part completed works, scraps of material, large pieces and scraps of material, cat images :rotfl: and Christmas material :beer:
3. sweeping the paving at the front, *maybe* cutting back a bit - max 20 minutes outside, I shall put the alarm on.
4. catching up on mse2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Gosh well done Karma, I've not ventured outside:o. The icicles hanging off the car are a bit off putting:rotfl:
I thought about you when I saw that Red Alert Beanie:eek: Must terrible so I hope you're OK xxOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
Mortgage neutral achieved August 2020 - 7 years early!!!0 -
Hi PP! I have icicles too, but they're not as bad as the first year I was here in 2010 - they were a foot longer and a *lot* thicker. Its wise not to disrespect this weather, though - if I stop at 10 minutes tomorrow, then thats how it is2023: the year I get to buy a car0
