Don`t sell on Ebay full stop.
If you want to post more then ten items then expect a payment in your inbox, obviously the more you post and the more you relist the more it`s going to be.
I don't know what this means? If you list more items then you are likely to get more sales- hence money in your account(inbox?) surely that's a good thing?
The people are weird and rude, the other week I had a message from a Ebay rule lover threatening to report me, going over and over the rules of Ebay like I had no idea . But you have to expect this now on Ebay, it`s full of schemers, scammers and the likes, most of the time you do get a pleasant transaction but do expect this.
The rules do change constantly, even regulars (and I've been selling for 19 years now) sometimes miss a rule change, however surely it best to be warned by another member before you fall foul of ebay?
If a case does go wrong however and a item is being returned or wasn`t described, don`t expect it to go your way because Ebay always sides with the buyer. I find theirs two types of buyers...The weird and the normal. I see a previous poster mention if you sell something expensive or valuable expect a review, well i`ve sold a faulty Iphone 6+ phone and a Thomas Sabo necklace and have had no reviews. The phone buyer messaged me to say can I send it it ASAP, in a box, can you tell me when you`ve sent it, make sure you send it off first class etc Yeah ok like i`m gonna send it as it is on it`s own with no packaging.
again I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this- we sell for money not reviews- it doesn't bother me in the least whether people leave feedback or not- as long as they pay me!
I agree though that cases almost always go in buyers favour, but ultimately cases are very rare and if you are getting a lot then perhaps you might want to review your listings.
I can`t make your mind up for you, but it`s your choice if you want to go ahead and try Ebay.
My responses are above in red.
Ebay is not for everyone, I would be the first to admit that- but whilst it has slowed generally it is still a good money maker for many people, myself included. If selling occasional one off items that you have in your home- try local face to face selling like facebook sales or Shpock.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Good listings and competitive pricing are key to making sales.
That means a good concise description of the item with multiple photographs that are clear and well lit.
Looking at other current and completed listings gives an accurate guide
to pricing.
A lot of items are offered with free postage so important to weigh item and identify who to use for shipping and cost. Collect Plus is rated quite highly as an alternative to Royal Mail.0 -
I'd be tempted to buy a number of very cheap items from overseas (often as little as 1p) - non-UK sellers seem to be much better at leaving feedback, presumably because they are keen to build up trade.
As you don't plan to sell overseas, there shouldn't be any issue even if you do fall out with a seller - they won't be able to buy from you and leave 'tit for tat' poor feedback.
As Soolin says, it won't affect your standing in the eyes of ebay, but a lot of buyers (including me) tend to look at the feedback score for a seller without actually checking if the feedback relates to them as a buyer or seller.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
I was a seller on ebay.... if you take my advice .... steer clear. It can be a costly mistake.
ebay always sides with the buyer, auctions get treated as shop sales, if someone just decides not to buy after all you pay the returns costs and the sending costs...
if you can sell Cash on collection you'll be fine.... well the chances of running into water takers is less.
my buyer asked if I would return £5 or she'd return it, I said no.... she went to ebay customer service , complained, they said she could return it... I said it was extortion ... I lost...cost me £30 in P&P ebay kept the commission , it's their rules in disputes...... nothing about it was right or fair but I could do nothing but pay.

OK, so you had a bad experience, either because you were unfortunate or because you didn't know the ropes - but millions of sellers have perfectly satisfactory transactions, so advising based on a sample of one is a bit OTT! As for cash on collection...have you ready the sticky on that?0 -

£30 in P&P?
I've read some of your other posts, perhaps you need to take the night off.0
