  • Hi.
I've mended a hole in my gloves and sewn some decorative buttons back onto my favourite shoes.
I'm making do with my existing clothes by losing that half stone that snuck on and getting back into my smaller ones.
I'm mending my back account by chasing up an ombudsman case again the credit card. Rang today and found they were writing to my old address and needed a copy of a letter which I've just emailed.
Minimised on Tuesday taking 5 items to the dress agency, they accepted 2...may eBay the other 3 this afternoon.

On the making do front, DH has fitted a shelf into a built in cupboard we have using things from the garage. It is now making the storage of bedding etc much easier in that area.

I have minimised another 2 large bags to the charity shop, that is 6 this week, I have shared them out between 3 shops but all for the same local hospice.

  • Hi all, I hand sewed my boys trousers up where he'd split the crotch. I've sewn them twice and he's came home with it gone again. Have they had it or is there another/better way to mend them?
    Thanks in advance.

Hello again. Good to see you are all making such an effort.

    Make Do
    - I have been eating from my freezer on a regular basis and next week's meal plan includes 3/6 main meals (we'll be out for the seventh!)
    - used a canvas bag to corral washing products under the sink

    Mend
I stitched up the underarm seam on my DH's NEW jumper!

    Minimise
    - a couple of frying pans (bin) and a lot of mugs (some to bin, some to CS)
    - converted some cardstock into 7 cards (which I still have, but they will be given away in time to raise funds for DiL's nursery)

Couldn't get out to the shops as the snow - and now ice and snow - is too deep to cycle in. I have most supplies, but I'm low on bread.
I was going to make some bread, using yeast, but then I really fancied some for tea, without waiting an hour and a half minimum.
So my making do was making some flatbreads from nearing BBD very strong bread flour, using olive oil, rather than yogurt, as I didn't have any of that either, and I'm keeping my milk for tea and coffee.

No mends, but some books and an unused LED reading light left with a friend. Unused, as it interferes with my radio, but my friend wants it for a bedside lamp, with no radio nearby. So, a minor minimise.

No minimising yesterday but did list a couple of things on ebay so fingers crossed they will leave at some point.

Make do - wanted a glass of wine last night but wasn't prepared to open a full bottle so I had a hot chocolate instead, not quite the same admittedly.

  • Use a piece of similar fabric to reinforce them inside.

  • Mended my 80 denier tights this morning she I realised In could see a toe on each foot....previously they would of gone in the bin.
Started making a dress from some material I bought two years ago.
Found somewhere that will take warm coats for refugees, have one that I will, but haven't yet, drop off.
Sorted my jewellery box and am taking my amber jewellery over to my sister tonight as I never wear it and she will.
  • Thank you. I managed to get my sewing machine out from under the stairs and have sewn the trousers with an extra patch inside. I took them up an inch at the same time They have lasted so far!
