A query unrelated to myself (thankfully - whew!) but I saw LL's comment about implant teeth costing £2,500 each:eek::eek:. I thought they were £1,000 each:eek:. I'm asking because a friend of mine has ruined her teeth and her dentist told her she will need to have them replaced by implants at some point. When I took a look at them the other day - they actually need replacing already (ie because of the way they look:eek:). She's leaving it until she's told it's actually physical necessity to do so (ie because they literally don't work any longer - presumably fallen out). Is it really £2.5k per tooth??? She was quailing at the thought of the £1,000 per tooth I told her I'd read it was.

I was asking my friend about it, this thread made me curious. She had all her teeth out, they didn't do 28 implants, she said she had about 12 she thinks and then some of the teeth are like a bridge. I assume that makes it cheaper? Hers have lasted well and look very natural. She did say the dentist warned her that you have to be prepared to have them done again, anything from ten to 20 years later, but she's had hers longer than that and no problems. She's in her 90s now so I think they will see her out. I don't know if diet has anything to do with it or good bones but hers have been excellent.

I'm hoping my teeth will last, they look fine so far so fingers crossed, shame the rest of me isn't wearing as well as my teeth :rotfl:

Would you believe it......second viewer still came despite knowing it was sold. She was so disappointed but I explained I would not be taking part in a bidding war......I don't operate like that. She is now 1st reserve. :rotfl: if this sale falls through and she still wants it then she can have first refusal.

I always knew that if I could get the valuation right then it would fly but putting an accurate price on a property is always an inexact science.

I've booked a viewing for Monday for my favourite possible. DS2 is coming with me. Always useful to have a second pair of eyes. On Sunday I will do a few drive bys of some other maybes.

Maman......I am getting a clearer picture now. Cabins in the woods and cute country cottages are definitely off the list. :rotfl: and, I think I am not quite ready for an apartment. Like you say I would miss a garden. Sitting in mine now.

Ps.....just edited to add. No I'd don't think the next house will be my "final resting place". I'm looking for a bit of a project again. I've not made a fortune on this one, in fact most of the profits went to my son because he put in most the graft. I was just the banker, designer and general dogsbody. However, I have made enough for myself to make it all worthwhile.

Ultimately I still want a plot of land to design and build my own. A bit of a pipe dream maybe but that's my goal.

As the old song from South Pacific goes.

"You gotta have a dream, if you don't have a dream, how you gonna make a dream come true".

Thanks for that - so sounds like a ballpark figure to her of between £12,000 and £30,000 (dependant on type of implant required), plus a bridge. Followed by the risk that (as she is in same agegroup as myself) maybe having to go through all that expense & hassle a 2nd time in years to come. Whew!!! I must admit I'm coming to the conclusion that having a self-destructive nature (as some people have) doesnt just manifest as drugs or heavy drinking - but can show up as extremely heavy health care bills (ie due to the reason her teeth personally are that bad). We're definitely "attraction of opposites" in that respect - as I have a strong self-preservation streak on the other hand LOL.

Admits I'd have hysterics personally at the thought of that sort of cost:eek::eek:

    ************

LESSONLEARNED - Congrats that you've found a buyer and a "reserve" at the right price. Admits I would have had a bidding war if they'd both shown up at the same time - indeed I did just that on my last house and was only too grateful that two people were after it at once in the event - I got about £3,000 more approx I think than I otherwise would have from that. But anyways - if you're happy with that - then full speed ahead time with viewing on "next house".:)

I'd find the money because I hate the thought of dentures but I would be horrified at spending that sort of money.

Just wondered if anyone has tried Aldi moisturisers? I needed a night cream and picked up their Soy night cream for mature skin, I think it was under £2. Well I put it on and thought it was far to sticky and I would wake up with a sticky neck and greasy pillow. In fact my skin drank it all up and after a few nights I do think I can see a difference, might just be wishful thinking but I am pleased with it.

    Hello Ladies,

Flo61 the on off relationship with Wayne went on longer than I documented on here. I got tired of going on about him in writing. I simply made the decision that once the black marks got to a certain level, I would walk away from Wayne and not look back. The final straw was that he went to Jamaica for 6 weeks and chose not to send me even a single text let alone call me. After all his promises of undying Love, of not wanting to be parted from me but having to go to the huge family party in Jamaica for his elderly Father's surprise birthday party, he did not contact me once. :( After the 1st week of him not contacting me, he had made the decision for me. I thought he would explain why he had chosen to behave like that towards me, but his only pathetic comment was 'my phone would not work in Jamaica' on his return to the UK. This was so obviously a lie as he told me about his foreman trying to contact him in Jamaica and Wayne avoiding the calls as he had lied to his Foreman and said he was only going on holiday for 2 weeks even though it was 6 weeks.

I have never attempted to write a novel, because I do not think I would ever have the patience to complete a novel. Poems and short stories are perfect for me, because I can write them quickly. :D

This is the poem I wrote about the end of my relationship with Wayne

    My Personal Revenge Wayne

My personal revenge Wayne is that you will lament the day that you decided to keep on disrespecting me

That you will watch me as my body dances in sinuous, sexy shapes and regret your foolhardiness

That you will watch me as my smile starts from my toes and reaches the shining light in my eyes, as I talk to another man

That you will think of a funny remark to say to me to hear me laugh, then remember that I do not want to hear the sound of your voice

That you will sing my favourite tune to me and watch me turn away, indifferent to you, as I refuse to listen to your off key notes

That you will watch me slow dance with a man and jealousy will grip you so hard that it will manifest itself in pain that clenches your stomach

That you will ache to touch me, caress me and feel the warmth of my skin, yet know that skin to skin contact is not allowed between us

That you will hear me sing the song Hurt So Good and long for the days of old when the words were a personal message to you

That even when you try to sleep, thoughts of me plague you and you lie awake in bed, still regretting your decision to mess with me

My personal revenge Wayne is that you will miss me and long for my company so much, that no one else can assuage your loneliness

That the day will soon come, when you ask me to change my mind about you, I look through you and then watch you serenely as the dream of a relationship with me slowly dies in your eyes

I have done a Creative Writing Course in the past and I had to tell the tutor that I was not really interested in writing a novel. She seemed so disappointed with me, but I prefer to stick to writing poems and short stories because they are enjoyable mediums for me to express myself.
  • Sugarbaby - That Wayne lying like that to his foreman (6 weeks holiday - but only said about 2) and his total disregard for his finances (ie "playing ducks and drakes with his income" - taking that sort of risk with his job) and he would have just "signed his death warrant" for any sort of relationship with me personally.

So - you are by far best off without him. Charm and lies don't pay the bills imo.

Grrr..just wrote a post and lost it.

SUgarbaby.....I tend to agree with Money.

Wayne was stupid to treat you the way he did. But taking his boss for a fool like that is tantamount to committing career suicide.

Seriously you deserve better than that. You are worth so much more. Don't waste another second of your time on him. He might be charming but he sounds like complete and utter wastrel.

He is just not worthy of you.

Ok...split my post because my iPad is playing silly devils.

Humpty. Aldi have a great reputation for their creams and beauty products. They always score very highly in comparative testing and can hold their own against products costing several times more. I have used that particular soy cream, it's excellent.

Speaking of creams I am trialling some hemp gel for pain relief. So far so good. I only started it yesterday but my knees do seem to feel a bit easier.

I have dropped the CBD oil so I can test the gel properly.
