Ouch LL hope those antibiotics kick in soon and make you more comfortable.

Another fan here of Pilates, used to do a weekly lesson but that had to go once I got another horse (financially draining for sure :rotfl:) The Pilates improved my core muscles no end and certainly helped my flexibility.

Have gone for comfort today as have been visiting yards ahead of moving my girlie so warmth and dry feet was the order of the day! Now relaxing in yoga pants, long sleeved tee and a cosy hoodie, one of those soft cosy ones that get better the more you wash them, hardly glamorous but perfect for an evening in.

How exciting with the party Maman a perfect excuse for a new outfit and maximum fabbing :D
Hope the evening is better than expected Floss you never know you might get on well, if not there is always wine :D

Thanks for good wishes. I'm sure I'll be asking for loads of advice. :)

Just had to post quickly to advise floss . I'd be too busy swearing at the television to worry about entertaining the wife. No less than SIX of our players in the starting line ups on both sides. I'd be asking how they'd cope without the supermarket that is Southampton. We're the Waitrose of the Premier league! :rotfl:

LL how annoying to find you are getting an ulcer in such a tender part of your body. Have you tried natural yoghurt? I have never had an ulcer, but remember from female friends and my sisters them swearing by natural yoghurt for healing in that tender area, as a natural, easily accessible effective 'ointment'

I hope you have a fabulous time on your holiday. :D

Maman, your intended party sounds great. :D

    Hi all :hello:

Ouch LL that sounds really painful, hope you're feeling better soon. I had an episiotomy as DS was a forceps birth and the stitches weren't fun as any pain in that area is not pleasant!

maman yes I think I'll have to do a lot of trying on with jeans, just a pain as I can't do it with DS in tow and don't really want to spend any childfree time shopping but can maybe do it in dribs & drabs.

Your party sounds like fun, I'm sure you'll find something fabulous to wear. :)

sukeyboo I'm exactly the same with knee high boots and I'm a size 12. It seems to be a family thing in my case, all the women on my mum's side have the same "sturdy" calves, even my really small slim sister has them. I always joke that it's from our Irish peasant ancestors so we had nice strong legs for working in the fields. :rotfl:

Floss I have a friend who is a dentist and she specialises in children and phobics - she's very brave!:rotfl: I wouldn't be putting my hands in small children's mouths!

DS has settled a lot better the last few nights but still waking up more than usual during the night because of his cold. I've got a wedge now for his cot to keep him at an angle to try and help with the congestion, so fingers crossed that helps him out tonight.

Hope you have a nice time tonight, I find it really difficult & awkward to make conversation when I don't really know someone and/or we don't have much in common. I've often been accused of being "stuck up" in the past because I'll be quiet and assess the situation before speaking much. This seems to be less of an issue as I'm getting older but I do still feel a bit uneasy inside in these situations so feel your pain. I find gin helps. :rotfl:

I'm just doing a bit of internet window shopping as DS in bed and DH out at the pub. It's my MIL's birthday at the end of the month and DH's birthday at the start of Feb so need to have a think about presents. DH is useless at suggesting things his mum might like, a lot of the time I have to guess or buy vouchers. My PIL live 300+ miles away from us so we don't tend to buy anything too big or bulky either as have to send it.

I need to find some jeans and or jeggings that fit better, I have a real problem with them sliding down all the time instead of staying at my waist. I also have the added issue of "sturdy" calves so can't really wear skinny jeans at all as they get stuck at the aforementioned calves. :rotfl: I really don't have a pair of jeans/jeggings that fit properly and don't know where to start looking. I have to do a lot of kneeling/bending with DS & don't want the dreaded builder's bum situation.:rotfl:

I mentioned on 2017 thread that I’d bought some jeggings from Uniqlo in the sale (reduced to £15). My weight goes on at my middle and I have noticed that my tights roll down. Well, the jeggings are high rise and amazing. As they sit over the widest part of my tummy, they don’t roll down. Plus, they won’t give you a builders bum either. I bought the dark denim and black. If you can get to a store in London, they will alter them for you (it’s free on trousers over £20, but as these were £15, it was £3).

I did an online work out this morning. First one I’ve done in, I don’t know how long. I had a few errands to run in town and picked up some bras from M & S in the sale. The right fitting bra can do wonders for your figure. I’d recommend getting measured if you haven’t done so for a while. M & S use the old fashioned method, which gives women a much bigger back and smaller cup. See this article for advic.

Thanks chanie I'll have a look at those - high rise sounds like a good plan. Unfortunately I'm unlikely to be anywhere near London for a good while, we sometimes travel down there on our way to visit the parents-in-law but that's about it really. It's good that they alter them though, wish I was nearer!

I'm going to have a look at that bra fitting article too, my bras seem to fit/sit all wrong since having DS.

    Loving all the chat...

You are a great bunch of gals. I can see we are going to have a great time on here this year.

Wow. Maman great to have a party for your birthday, definitely think about a new dress. You have to be the Belle of the Ball. ;)

Feeling a bit more comfortable, the AB.s seem to be doing their thing, Yes I’ve got probiotics. SUgarbaby I have tried the yoghurt tip but didn’t help me much. Over the years I have tried just about everything. Salt baths help the most and ssssshhhh but when it gets really bad I go commando......My old doctor told me this. When I was shocked at the suggestion, he told me off for being a prude. :rotfl: thing is it works. My midwife friend told me the same thing too.

I am afraid I am just an odd woman with my female bits. Cystitis, thrush, infected episiotomies, abscesses, ectopic pregnancy, you name it. My husband always used to make jokes about my “plumbing” but he was always very kind and understanding. Always knew when I needed a duvet, hot water bottle, a nice dvd and some tasty eats without me even having to ask. TBH I’ve never been physically strong, mental and emotional strength has always been my forte. We can’t have it all.

Had a lovely evening with my eldest son. DIL was too poorly to come over. I have to say it is still quite nice to have some mother/son chats at times, he still likes to pick my brains and although I know he loves my DIL to pieces I think he likes to enjoy the “Englishness” of our chats. DIL is learning fast but there is still a huge cultural gulf for her to overcome. It’s such a shame my mum isn’t here to help, because being a non British national herself she would have been a huge help guiding DIL into the British way of life. It can be quite baffling to foreigners at times, especially our humour and funny little quirks, my Belgian friends and cousin often found us incomprehensible. And my mother was quite homesick for a long time. They would have got on like a house on fire.

I think we Brits are great, much as I loved Spain I was always glad to come home. I missed British humour and culture. My friend has just come back to dear old Blighty after living 9 years in California. She got homesick in the end.

Obviously we talked about the baby and parenthood etc. I was terribly touched when he said he wanted to give his children the kind of upbringing he had enjoyed, how he had always felt truly loved and cherished and how he had always looked up to us and wanted to emulate us.

One thing we did chat about tonight was “sistergate” I had deliberately withheld a lot of what really went on because I did not want to colour my sons views or spoil their relationship with their aunt. But kids aren’t daft and he wanted to know. He was terribly shocked and really upset at the way both my father and my sister treated me. I could see the wheels turning in his brain as he took it all in. Its nice to know he still loves and needs his mum.....

The old saying “a son is your son until he takes a wife, but your daughter is your daughter all of her life” is so true, the mother of sons has to Learn to let go graciously....and no girl is ever really good enough for our precious boys.:rotfl: But ...I think my DILs are nice girls, they adore my boys and dote on them, I have to smile when I see them all together. I can relax and think “my job is done and I think I did ok”.

Anyway I’m ready to go.....don’t know how easy it will be to keep in touch but I’ll see what I can do. In the meantime, have fun and don’t forget to give yourself plenty of TLC and keep up the fabbing.

Sorry I can’t do links (I am going to learn this year). So instead I will quote you a few song lyrics.

“Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye
Cheerio, here I go, on my way
Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye
Not a tear, but a cheer, make it gay”

Gracie Fields......a real English gal if ever there was one.

BTW - I have told the boys I want that song for my funeral......:rotfl:

I'm not really a Southern Belle. I'm an immigrant and I get homesick sometimes.
