Unexpected sole owner of house

Has anyone been in this situation before?

I moved house in June.
Bought house as Tenants in Common with DH. (50% share each) with no mortgage.
TR1 was signed by both of us.
Unfortunately a few weeks later DH passed away before the Land Registry had been updated with our details.

Now it seems that the solicitor has put the house in just my name at the LR despite being told that DH's share was going to his children and not me. He has a will and I'm the joint executor.

Is the solicitor at fault and am i liable as executor for this error? Was this the correct course of action? Any easy ways to get this sorted?

Thanks in advance
