Seamstress gone as she couldn't do very much at all when it came to starting.

Lucky escape for you as that was never going to last or end well when she is dictating when she will be finishing on first day.

Training her up on minimum wage was also going to be a waste of time for you as you would not be making any money if you were spending time on training while paying work wasn't getting done.

If you are going to be paying out another wage that you cannot really afford when you are struggling to get a wage yourself after all this time. They need to be earning their wage as well as a big enough percentage on top that goes into the business. I think you need to toughen up if you are going to employ anyone else .

If the sums don't add up and they are not bringing enough benefits for you, then they are not worth employing.
    Good luck
If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.

You are certainly not having much luck with your staff, Mooloo!
I wish you lived in Glasgow, I envy your expertise with invisible stitching ( my Mum can do this, but doesn't sew much, now she is in her late seventies)
    Linda :-)

I am still learning invisible mending really. I don't offer invisible but obviously I need things to be as neat and acceptable as possible, and as I do more and more it gets a little better each time. Working through a magnifying glass has helped me considerably.

My intention was for someone to earn more than their income as my current seamstress does, she adds value to the business and covers much more than she costs. The idea was for another Seamstress to do the same, which would then free me up to concentrate on the figures, profit margins, advertising, classes and build up the sales etc.
I can take a wage at the moment, through the summer I can usually manage around £100 a week, but obviously I want treble that to live on.
That's why I didn't replace my daughter with another receptionist. I am doing two jobs at the moment. I have cleared the overdraft and I have paid myself too. I am on the up and up, as I am working hard to sort out the past mistakes.
I know that I can do it I just need to find the right person.

I have tried but there is nothing around my area, nearest college is lemington spa and kids won't travel there as there is no direct public transport.
There usedto be a scheme that would do the training all in house but when apprentices changed two years ago it was stopped.

Two more sleeps and then holiday. Two very busy days ahead to get as much work done as possible before I go.
I won't be able to clear the decks but I hope that I can make a good attempt.
Saw Mum yesterday afternoon, she's much better now.
Went to Sainsbury's and bought Dgd some new clothes for the holidays. She's growing so much at the moment.

Thankyou. I am really ready for it this time. Well I am always ready for a holiday really.
    Dgd is getting excited.
I have done most of the packing but I cannot find my bag scales anywhere?
I might need to see if boots or mr T have any as flying Ryanair I don't want to be over on the weight.
