Yesterday didn't quite go to plan. All my meals were OK and I had my HEB and HEA but blew my syns after lunch on a packet of crisps, 2 slices of GF lemon meringue pie and 3 heroes.:o I enjoyed my lunch but it did not satisfy me, it maybe would have if I had added some carbs. I have planned a JP and beans today hoping it will be more filling.
I'm not sure how to work out the syns for things not in the book as I don't have access to the app or on line resources anymore.
Yesterdays food:
B-GF fibre cereal, 30 ml skimmed milk, hot water and lemon
L-Omelette - 3 eggs, 30g cheese, ham, with lettuce, carrot, beetroot, cucumber and salad cream
D-SW Veggie burger, HM SW wedges (with some of the 30g of cheese and season all), peas, corn and BBQ Sauce
Snacks - Apple, banana, toffee muller lite,
Syns - Salad cream (1), Milk(0.5), BBQ sauce (1) Crisps (7?) Heroes (7.5) LM Pie *???)
Today's Plan
B- 40g oats, FF Greek yogurt, raspberries, 1tsp sweetener
L- Jacket potato, baked beans, cheese, small side salad - lettuce, cucumber, carrot, beetroot, salad cream
D - Chicken and Chorizo Spanish Rice, homemade - chicken, onion, pepper, spices, chorizo, paella rice, stock, frozen peas (5.5 syns)
Snacks - grapes, apple x 2, banana and toffee Muller lite
HEA - cheese
HEB - Porridge
Drink - Water, water and more water
Syns - dinner (5.5), salad cream (1)
I would like to not add any extra sys today for treats

I'm not a SW member XSpender so don't have access to their resources and I tend to google to try to find syn values if I don't know them and if that doesn't work use the rule that 20 calories of non free food is about one syn. I think if you are a member though there may be a more accurate syn calculator on their website.
The size of the slices of pie will affect their syns. Maybe the best thing to do is to decide yesterday was a practice day to learn the rules and start properly from today rather than stressing about how many syns you had? Otherwise, if it were me and I was guessing for myself I'd probably put that down as 30 syns for the two slices.0 -
You're welcome to ask for any syn values xSpender but nicki's right. If something is home made it's difficult to do much more than an inspired guess. Looking online a portion could be between 10 and 20 syns depending on the size and the ingredients (eg. sugar or sweetener).
Looking at your menus I noticed that you are having quite a lot of non Speed fruits and veg. I think your salads probably add up to the recommended third of each day's food but beware of bananas, grapes, peas and corn (unless baby corn). They're free and healthy but don't count as Speed.
I didn't manage to post yesterday but I stayed on plan and just had 1tbsp of honey to use up the last of my syns.
A new week starts here with 105 syns although didn't go to WI. Unfortunately RL is starting to kick back in with meals out etc. I'm out for lunch today and hoping to make wise choices.
Will report back later.:)0 -
Thanks Nicki and maman for your useful info.
I do think I need to eat more veg and less fruit and will look in my book to remind myself of speed foods. I didn't make a conscious choice to pick speed foods previously, just free foods, so will give it a go. I use fruit and carbs to fill me up normally so need to find some good alternatives.
I still had the LM pie box and the syns (using 1 for 20 cals) worked out at 35 syns for the amount I ate yesterday:eek: not including the chocs and crisps and planned syns. I hate to think how many syns I was eating before yesterday when I was decluttering the Christmas food:eek::eek::eek:Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Got a stinking cold so no WI today. I am quite surprised and disappointed that SW don't accept sickness or hols on the countdowns. After all they have my money 6 weeks in advance! Never mind, found a Friday am. class not too far from here so will go there if I feel well enough.
You just need to know the holiday dates beforehand. They can put in 'holiday' weeks in after a countdown has started, but it has to be special circumstances, and the consultant has to ring head office to get it put on the system. My consultant has just done it for me for my operation.Just joined sw this week, please can you put me down for 7lbs
Welcome. I've added you to the spreadsheet.Hi my lovlies, first time posting on here. I’d love to join please. My problem is I don’t eat hardly anything during the day but still can’t shed the weight. Have been told it’s coz I’m not eating 😱. I don’t eat breakfast which apparently is the biggest mistake. My first intake of food is around midday, which is usually a slice of toast & a tea with no sugar followed by my dinner @ around 6.15pm. Occasionally a cuppa & one biscuit @ about 8pm. HELP ..!!!! 🙏🏽
Welcome. If you have an idea how much you would like to lose by the 4th March I will add you to the spreadsheet.
Not eating enough can be the cause of not losing weight, especially if what you are eating isn't great. Whether or not you need breakfast, most consider it important, but I do no people that lose but don't eat breakfast.
Also with what you are eating at lunch, you aren't getting any fruit and veg till dinner, and unless you are eating lots, you won't be getting your 5 a day.
Post your food diaries on here, and then we can help you to work out what you can change.
Why don't you eat breakfast? time? not hungry? can't stomach food in the morning?Zebras rock0 -
Not posting a meal plan for today. Feeling ikky, so not managing to stick to plan todayZebras rock0

Hi everyone
Bit of a write off yesterday but I did my first bit of exercise in ages on my cross trainer and stepper so hoping that will undo a bit of the damage
Ish I'd definitely say you aren't eating enough - as mad that sounds when you are trying to lose weight, SW encourages you not to feel hungry and there are tons of free & speed foods you can eat during the day. If you aren't going to a group you can often buy the books on ebay which will teach you the basics. From memory there are a good few on here me included who don't go to a group and use this lovely supportive thread as a virtual group instead! There are lots of handy hints on the first few posts here including one when you are just starting out.
Today's food:
B - HEB porridge with HEA milk, cherries & satsuma, cuppa
L - tuna mayo (2 syns) with pasta and salad (beetroot, pickled onions, carrot)
T - risotto with reduced fat smoked sausage (4 syns for my portion as OH will scoff most of it) with cucumber & tomato
Maybe some some more syns later if I feel snacky0 -

We tried the SW lasagnes ealier this week and weren't impressed - quite tasty but far too runny. I had the vegetable one and OH had the beef one. We still have one of each in the freezer which we will eat but I won't be buying any more - I'm sure I cam come up with a better home made version that's low-syn.
I had an awful day diet wise yesterday - not sure why.
For the first time since I started this over three months ago I just felt really hungry and craved (and ate) nuts and chocolate.
And there was I thinking I'd got to the stage where I could be mature and disciplined enough to keep a pack of kit kats in the house and ration myself to the occasional treat...
Will try and be extra good today and tomorrow before WI Saturday, and hope I've not done too much damage.
Today
Brunch - I have some mushroom, pepper and spring onion breakfast muffins currently in the oven.
Later - not sure but I think OH may be out and I have loads of eggs to use up so it may be a spanish omelette with wholemeal bread (HEXB) and cheese (HEXA).
Snacks: red pepper, clementines, banana0 -
First of all - ((Hugs)) to all in need - especially, from my quick read back, beany and dusty - and a great big whoop whoop for Kathryn and many good thoughts and prayers as you get ready for your operation.
Secondly sorry for not posting more regularly - life has been a bit hectic at the minute..MIL is stable in hospital and is being assessed by OT and eye doctors and is in the best hands. My poor daddy is very poorly with pneumonia but is also stable and (if he would just stay in bed!) on the way to recovery.
DH and I are for Lanzarote next week (5 days all inclusive ) if things go well - this is the main reason I haven't been around this last couple of days - well turns out I had no passport.
A couple of months ago I renewed my drivers licence and sent my passport as verification of my photos -well you know when you're not looking for something you don't miss it - well it was only the other day when getting things ready for the holiday when I remembered - hey! The DVLA didn't return my passport!! So on the phone with them for hours...passed from one operator to another, then supervisors to another - upshot is - well we didn't get it!! And I said well I got my licence back so therefore you MUST have got it...they denied everything and the upshot was I had to get a new passport with no repercussions for the DVLA!!
So I realised that time was short so I phoned to arrange an appointment with the passport off for a one day fast track passport - only to be told that they only do one week (guaranteed) fast track for lost ones! So yesterday I had to do a 160 mile round trip (on the bus!) to our passport office in the hope it arrives before Tuesday of next week. To be fair the girl was very helpful and said that they were well within their guaranteed times at the minute - spoke to her supervisor and more or less told me it would definitely be with me in time (but I'm not too trusting of government departments at the minute!)
Anyway - sorry for the essay!!
Food has been ok
