    Evening everyone.

Welcome to the newbies - you're in very good company here!

Well done to all the losers - not sure where I'll be at weigh in on Friday. I've had a mixed week so far - stew and dumplings (home made - with suet:eek:) for tea tonight, the best comfort food on a miserable day. Aiming for a few syns as possible tomorrow to make up for it!

My sympathies to those struggling at the moment, whether with illness. sad anniversaries or the January blues.

At SW today, 6 new members returned with their fabulous first week results,4lbs,5 lbs and biggest loser an incredible 10 lbs.Target members who slipped a little over Xmas all got back into target range, several returning members lost several pounds too.Whole group lost 77 lbs They havent even been announcing numbers for at least 6 months, thats how bad it got with our old consultant.
So guess who disgraced herself, the only person among 25 in class who put on weight?
Yep,I put on 1/2 lb.And was surprised it wasnt more.
Last week was the first anniversary of my sister's death. Just seems to have hit me really hard. I keep thinking about how I am the last remaining person in my generation of our family, made me feel somehow lonely, despite having a big family of my own.Its only a month since I had a bad week remembering the death anniversaries of my mother, brother and sister within a 4 day period.Struggling with depression, butterflies in the stomach like being at the dentist, before the head or at a difficult interview.Barely eating, but when I do its rarely speed foods, its stuffing myself with my fave roasties!. Never opened the book or planned a meal. I'm sitting here feeling as if I am going to be sick,or will burst into tears, but I am going to have a nice comforting cup of hot choc(heaven knows how many syns, cant be bothered even to check.)Then I'll have a hot bath and try for a decent night's sleep,(had no more than 4 sporadic hours for several days) .
I couldnt share this with anyone in SW class, but I'm glad to share the burden with you. I am determined to get back up from tomorrow to try to get back on track. Normally a 1/2 gain wouldn't bother me much,I tend to look at results over a month, trying for a steady 4 lbs a month overall. But today being so low and being the only person to gain weight was very demoralising indeed:(:(

    Big hugs dusty :)
    Take care of you.

I wont have a loss this week either.
Weight loss not quite at top of my list at the moment.

Got a stinking cold so no WI today. I am quite surprised and disappointed that SW don't accept sickness or hols on the countdowns. After all they have my money 6 weeks in advance! Never mind, found a Friday am. class not too far from here so will go there if I feel well enough.

Not renewing my countdown, Friday is my last day of the 6 weeks. Will just stay away for a few weeks and rejoin on a free membership in February. I have a list of mags that do free membership specials somewhere. If I find it I'll copy it here. Especially as there is going to be a book giveaway offer with a countdown in the near future.

Edited to say: ARGHHH sadly I seem to have lost the SW free membership mag list! If anyone knows of a mag doing this offer towards end January to 6th Feb I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

Unless I know dates of any holidays, I won’t buy a countdown as I agree with your argument.

What makes you think that it makes people lose weight for good? I think there was a Channel 4 documentary last year that stated that 85% of people who lose weight from fad diets and programmes put the weight back on within 3-5 years.

They even used a former Slimming World 'Slimmer of the Year' as an example, who came on to state that after losing a monumental amount of weight, it all got put on again within a short period of time. Why didnt Slimming World publicise this if they basked in all the glory from her original weight loss?

All that effort and expense for nothing when the most effective way to lose weight is not really to change much at all....

Eat what you want but a bit less of it and do a bit more exercise. This sounds really boring in comparison to reading about a man/woman who has gone on this glossy programme to lose weight but in the latter case this is actually just the extreme exception to the rule.

I lost 3.5 st and Have kept it off for over 10 years and SW only had my money for 9 months of that time. Ive gone it alone since then!
We all have our own opinions and mine is, it works! That’s why I stick with it! :A
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

  • Hi my lovlies, first time posting on here. I’d love to join please. My problem is I don’t eat hardly anything during the day but still can’t shed the weight. Have been told it’s coz I’m not eating 😱. I don’t eat breakfast which apparently is the biggest mistake. My first intake of food is around midday, which is usually a slice of toast & a tea with no sugar followed by my dinner @ around 6.15pm. Occasionally a cuppa & one biscuit @ about 8pm. HELP ..!!!! 🙏🏽

    Quick update from me...

I had the chicken saag from Iceland with plain boiled rice (added some spinach) on Tuesday and wasn't keen. Not sure I'd bother with that again. I also had a croissant on Tuesday so counted 9 syns.

Wednesday was a working from home day, so I had:

    B - Fruit and yog
    L - Scrambled eggs x 2 on wholemeal toast (1 slice, HEXB)
D - Jambalaya. This was a Simply Cook recipe so I am guessing some syns but I did leave out the chorizo and had no syns all day so I'm not worried.

    HEX A - milk

    Today the plan is:

    B - Overnight oats
    L - Left over Jambalaya
D - SW burger with McCain jacket potato (1 syn) and an exciting assortment of veg including broccoli, peas, asparagus and sweetcorn
    S - Fruit

HEX A milk and HEX B oats.

    Hi Ish

Yeah, you need to be eating a lot more - but the right stuff! Have a look at the start of the thread; there is lots of good information to get you started. You might want to consider seeing if there is a class you can attend locally as well.
