Quick release soft close seat are very handy.

consider a jap style Bidet seat.
  • When we had our bathroom done last year, we took care of a few things in bathroom designs. We installed an extract fan which is undeniably considered as an essential device in the bathroom. Apart from that, we had a two-button toilet which helps in saving a lot of water. We installed medium sink as for its utility. I’m not a big fan of the shallow pan, so I avoided that.

    2 points here...

    1) Is saving the water much of an issue if you're not on a meter?
    2) I've used those 2 button things and tbh, no pun intended but i think they're crap. The small button barely flushes anything in my experience & that's on a few toilets. Maybe they were ALL broke who knows? It made my yellow pee just a bit less yellow. It was still pointless and i needed to flush again.
  • Not seen any mention in thread of water pressure with regard to taps/shower, are you on a gravity fed system or a combi boiler ?

Combi should be no problem, if gravity then you have to choose your taps & shower very carefully

Please do some research on that issue - will affect you far more than a 2 button loo flush !

    Combi boiler here.

Ours is a mixer type shower.
  • Based on my experience, top tip is only buy fittings (toilet, shower inc enclosure) from well-known brands for which replacements will be available 5 years or so down the line. Also carefully note exact model numbers.

My mum has started using black grout and it is amazing for not getting dirty and can look really effective.

It's not the bit on the outside that matters, what's inside the cistern and the bowl design that determines how effective the flush works.

The same insides can have a button or lever.

there are lots of options and not all will fit all cisterns.
    just one supplier.

  • I just did my bathroom last year and went for Respotex panels. They are rather expensive so just put them in the shower and a splashback around the bath. There was enough left over to make a bath panel too. I went for a very bland colour so that it wouldn't date. I then went for a Karndean flooring as I wanted a durable, easy clean, warmer than tile flooring. It is like a grey tile effect so I painted the walls grey (took me some time with test colours to get the right effect). I'm please with it and everything is neutral enough that I can just change the scheme with different towels/accessories OR even paint the walls if more drastic change required.

Suite is very plain and white with half pedastel sink to make cleaning floor easier.
    :rotfl:
  • We found the push button inlet units that came with the B&Q suites soon became noisy. So replaced them with the £7 B&Q units which were much better.
