    1. IF I NOTICE SOME SMALL TASK NEEDS DOING - I WILL DO IT IMMEDIATELY

    2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I WENT IN - WITHOUT HIDING THE CLUTTER EXCEPT for the wardrobe room which is currently the storage room (sr)

Nothing wrong with a consolidation day, basketcase :D

I have been a bit of a lazy c*w today :rotfl: Had done nothing except sweep the kitchen floor, drink lots of tea/coffee & play Angry Birds 2 or watch the birds & feed the squirrels :rotfl: We have a pair of goldfinches who have four little ones to feed. They have fledged & mummy & daddy are trying to show them how the seed feeders & water bowls work :D Very entertaining :D

Felt guilty so thought I would start with no. 1 - washed out a UU cough medicine bottle & recycled it along with the dosage cup & box so

    B830 - B832 Bottle, cup & box recycled
B833 Plastic tray from grapes recycled & grapes put in wormery
B834 Plastic milk carton rinsed & recycled
B835 Coffee tin decanted & being used as a rubbish receptacle

A bit pathetic I know :rotfl: but that got the ball rolling & I emptied two shelves of my food cupboard, washed down the shelves & then started consolidating :D

B836 Box of Twinings Breakfast teabags being donated to cs
B837 Small plastic bottle of olive oil decanted & bottle washed & recycled
B838 Packet of flour decanted & packet recycled
B839 - B840 Decanted 400g of Wholemeal flour & the other 1.5kg was made into a slurry & put in the compost bin so 2 Packets recycled

The two shelves are now refilled & not so cluttered :rotfl: & my list of contents has been updated :T - only one item needs replenishing so have started a shopping list:D
The third shelf has been emptied & washed and I am now psyching myself up to sort out the contents :rotfl: Unfortunately it is NOT the worst shelf
Oh well, my loins are girded & I am off :rotfl:

Well one everyone. Lots of decluttering happening on our thread:j

Basketcase hope you are ok with your painful wrist and bad back. I know what pain is like when it comes to backs as I have Spondylosis in the top and the bottom of my spine. Some days I can hardly stand up straight but once up and moving it eases off painwise. I have been taking strong painkillers for a number of years now and they really do keep me moving, makes me a bit gaga mind you but at least I am moving about. Right enough of my waffle.

Hubby let me loose in his Man Cave in the garden today and I had a lovely time (not) sorting it all out. Most of it now is pretty tidy with nuts and bolts in the nuts and bolts drawer and so on. I was actually pretty chilled out in there sitting on the floor sorting all the containers out. Still quite a few ice cream sized tubs to sort out but I will leave those for another time.

    So todays haul is:-

14 Pieces of wood (yes 14 & what for I have no idea) KINDLING
    2 Cardboard boxes BONFIRE
1 Metal thing ??? Metal REC
    1 Broken plastic tray REC
    2 Metal tubes REC
3 Plugs cut off of appliances BIN
    1 Tatty paintbrush BIN
    1 Pair holey gloves BIN
1 Lump of sponge used for transport support filling BIN
1 Old fish pond pump BIN
    1 Broken cracked torch BIN
    1 Flower pot REC
    3 Flower pots CROCS
3 Bird feeding station tray things METAL REC
    1 Plastic cress pot REC
1 Broken 2 way socket BIN
    1 Broken Storage tub REC
1 Broken large tub used for storage (was fat ball tub with lid) REC
2 Broken Parasols :( Going to the council DUMP
1 New light switch socket CHARITY SHOP
1 Broken Glass picture frame. Glass REC & wood KINDLING
4 Seen better days foil quiche dishes used for scaring pigeons from veg beds
1 Lawn mower broken going to DUMP

Hi all, and well done on the decluttering front - especially edwink. Although if that’s you being lazy, Mrs SD, I’m impressed. Thanks for your concern about the pain, edwink. Sorry to hear about the spondylosis, it must be dreadfully painful. Mine was just a one-day thing, although, as you’ll see, I’ve made up for it since! Because...

... I never made it to the cinema. I ended up in A&E instead! I am such a wally.:o I went over on my ankle on an uneven pavement, pulled a ligament which pinged a bit off the corner of a bone. My ankle’s now in a splint for the next few days. DD reckons I’ll do anything to escape the Room of Doom...:rotfl:

Today, having dragged myself out of bed at 6.30 I:
    • S&Sed kitchen and bathroom + today’s jobs of cleaning the shower and splash back in the bathroom, boil washing the tea towels and kitchen cloths and tidying the fridge.
    • did several loads of washing and folded and put away the towels.
    • checked our cleaning supplies (they were OK for a while).
Declutter-wise, I decided I wanted to get few things out of the house as a ‘quick fix’. Everything went to the CS, except for the recycling and (you’ll be glad to hear!) the flat fizzy drink. :D That went down the drain and the bottle was washed and recycled. So today’s efforts look like this:
    Videos, 14lbs
    Mixed bag of stuff, 3.25lbs
    Hairdryer, 0.75lbs
    Trousers & A5 binder, 1.25lbs
    Recycling, 1.25lbs
    DVDs, 0.75lbs
Flat fizzy drink from fridge, 0.5lb

    Totals
    Day’s Total 21.75lbs
    Running total 1383lbs

Don’t know what I’ll get up to tomorrow, but there are loooooooooooads of boxes... Good luck with the decluttering all.
A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

Well done edwink:T Next thing you know you will be at the 700 mark :rotfl: especially if you manage almost 50 items at a time :)

basketcase, is the Room of Doom really that bad :rotfl: :D You are just showing off now :D wrist, back & now ankle and you are still doing S & S + 1 AND decluttering. Please be careful - the Room of Doom is not worth any more injuries :rotfl:

The third shelf didn’t yield much by way of decluttering, just

    B841 - B842 Multi Tin packaging - binned
B843 Small plastic bottle emptied, rinsed & recycled

But the shelf is a lot tidier now & my list of contents has been updated :)

I have one more shelf to sort - the baking shelf  but that is for tomorrow :rotfl:

Salad for dinner which yielded the following

B844 - B849 Plastic pot rinsed & recycled, 2 small tin cans rinsed & recycled, 2 plastic trays recycled, plastic packaging binned

B850 Toilet roller inner tube recycled
B851 Part used pot of Fudge Icing from fridge - Binned

Back after a few days of not doing much. We were away and then my back went into spasm so taking things easy.
I have been leaving rooms tidier AND it does make a difference.

735 an old hose pipe with a hole in it.
    736 a single glove
    737 old underwear
    738 a table may
    739-742 4 packs of cards
    743-746 ink cartridges
747 an old key no idea what for
    748 disclosures material
749 an empty pot of CD cleaner
750 pack of cards in bag for work. No idea what they were doing at home.
751 another bag of rubbish in bin from the garden. Some metal stuff and broken glass.
752 a cable tie for electric leads
    753 an old drink bottle
754-755 2 car chargers for stuff I don't have any more.
    756-757 two bins
    758 rubbish from my car
759 shampoo bottle. Had 2 half empty ones of same type so now less clutter.

That's a fair bit for today so far with hopefully more to do.

Friday was hot, hot, hot:T but I was a good child & did lots of little jobs as per no.1 & this led to no.2 - swept kitchen floor, emptied indoor bins to appropriate wheelie bins, made bed, put a load in the wm, post fully sorted, washing hung out to dry, odd bits of washing up done, dried & put away :)

I emptied the last shelf in my food cupboard, cleaned the shelf & then spent the next three hours :rotfl: decanting, listing & returning foodstuffs to shelf :rotfl: The reason I took so long was that it was such a glorious day that sunbathing & bird watching was the order of the day :rotfl: & I was rewarded - a great spotted woodpecker visited :T I haven’t seen one of those in my garden for three years :( Anyway back to the shelf :rotfl:

B852 Quaker Oats decanted into jar - box recycled
B853 Plastic pot washed & recycled
B854 Two pots of glac! cherries combined into one - plastic pot washed & recycled
B855 - B857 Small plastic pot, small tin & tiny glass pot all washed & recycled

All four shelves are now neat & tidy & each shelf has some space :rotfl: My list of contents is now completely up to date :T But bad news - I still have two shelves to clean & sort :( then onto the fridge & freezer & then the drawers - which I am not looking forward to, as the drawers contain the last of my aspirational purchases :D

B858 Plastic milk carton rinsed & recycled
B859 Delivery box dismantled & recycled

B860 Childs t-shirt added to cs bag

DSis’s storage solutions are turning up Sunday & Monday - so then we can start on the rest of her boxes, crates etc

villagelife, I so agree - leaving a room tidier does make a difference - it makes you feel lighter :T:)

:o couldn’t be bothered to get out of bed this a.m. - finally emerged from my pit about 12:15 p.m. having missed a morning of sunshine :o

DH & DSis had been up for hours :D DH has disinfected all the bird feeders & water bowls so birdies now have clean filled feeders & lovely clean water which they have enjoyed immensely:)

I did clear the last two shelves of the last cupboard :rotfl: The shelves needed scrubbing so that was done. Pottered about a bit re no.2, swept kitchen floor, sorted my post, did odd bits of washing up & reduced the number of ‘what shall I do with these items’ from 8 to 3 :T
    In the course of this

B861 Toilet roll inner tube recycled (yes another one:rotfl:)
B862 - B872 Last of the Old cutlery - 6 knives, 2 forks & 3 dessert spoons put in cs bag

The stuff from the two shelves resulted in the last of the Basmati rice in the 25kg sack being decanted into 2 glass jars - added to appropriate shelf & marked on contents list :rotfl:

    B873 Rice Sack binned
B874 - B875 Small glass jar & large glass jar both recycled
B876 - B877 Metal lid & cork lid both recycled

The remaining contents were listed & returned to the 2 shelves. Still have half a shelf of space :T

Satisfied now that ALL the cupboards have been sorted :rotfl: & quite a few of them have space on their shelves :T

DH is cooking cheesey pasta tonight so I will do the washing up immediately after dinner :D as DH does make a bit of a mess when he is cooking :D

Not too much done today but enough to keep me ticking over :D Tomorrow is definitely the fridge & freezer & a rough menu plan - so I can go shopping while DH & DSis build the furniture that is being delivered tomorrow :T

    Happy decluttering everyone :T:T

basketcase I have been informed by my sister who reads this forum that you asked me this question in April as to why I didn't count the items of clothing
I do apologise for not replying as I didnt see the question
I didn't count them because by the time I'd thought about it they were bagged, tied and in the car and I couldn't be bothered to get them back into the house. I'm a lazy moo.:)

It is a few weeks since I posted.Life has been a bit busy,so not alot of decluttering done. But the house still looks quite good,as long as I keep up on the tidying.

I have been catching up on the thread, and like Mrs Salad Dodger's mantras.I got into the habit of trying to do sdmall, quick jobs when I can (tidy an area while kettle is boiling, etc). But think I will start the leaving the room tidier than you found it.(Variation on the theme I have used before-everytime someone leaves a room,I would say "Don't go empty-handed :D").Imagine how tidy my house would be if all 6 of us in this family did a quick job when they can,and took something with them when they left a room:D!)

So far this year I have had 999 items from the house (and about 4000 last year).I count the decluttering of my loft as a different tally, because it is such a big job.So far I had decluttered 30 items from there, but have added to it today (total of 7 hours spent sorting through stuff from the loft ,mainly kid's school books, which I want to keep, but are in random boxes and bags all over the loft.Trying to gather them all togsther.

    Out of the loft today:

    Binned:
    31:plastic spinny toy
32:rag doll, had gone mouldy in the loft :(
    33:Iggle Piggle doll,gone mouldy,missing blanket
    34:Rockit (Fimbles) soft toy
35:construction helmet that had been converted to a helmet for various Roman dressing up days over the years
36:Miss Spider (Sunny Patch Friends) talking toy with friends

    Recycled:
37:small collection of papers from sorting out school books

I have also set aside a few things for donation, but will list them when they leave the house.

My loft has sooooooooooooooooooo mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnny empty boxes in it.A fantastic sign of everything that has left the house over the last couple of years, but empty plastic boxes take up so much room, and my partner won't let me get rid of them because he is a hoarder/because you never know/because they cost money .
