Thanks very much for the welcome, I hope that this thread will help me keep on task. Today my list is to put the recyclable waste out, (not collected until next week, but better in the bin outside) and do one charity shop bag. Plus one hour of normal cleaning and tidying
Last night, I didn't get home until after 9:30, but did a random clear up of a side-table. Eventually, I hope to get rid of this sort of furniture altogether, because there are fewer things needing a home. That little clean-up was thanks to this thread, because I was committed to doing something, rather than just flopping. I definitely felt better for keeping going, and more positive this morning.
I am going to keep things very short-term for now, and just nibble round the edges of the harder things. Sometimes I find that my mindset just changes with time, e.g. I held on to university books for years, and my own notes and things, and then one day just decided to clear it all out. I had already given away a few of the books, and cleaned up the files, removing unused paper and doodled-on pages, and I think that helped.
Other tasks today if I have time: pack up a present to post at the weekend. Hoover car.0 -
Thank you for the welcome. I'm excited about getting my house sorted once and for all.
I've not done a lot today as I've had work but I did...
1 Recycle a bin bag of DS's drawings. This seems harsh but he can churn out about 50 a day and I just can't keep them all.
2 Decluttered a green bin of weeds from the garden.
I break up tomorrow so look forward to some progress over the next week.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Hello Parsniphead, as we've started together, it will be interesting to keep up with each other's progress, as we work towards tranquil, uncluttered little havens. I've done my first bag out, (1), aiming towards at least one a day for a year or until it's done, which will be sooner, I hope.
I wouldn't stress over your son's baby things too much, but maybe look for chances to donate them, or do it with him, he probably won't be too sentimental, as he'll know they won't fit him now. Maybe use the nappies up, if they are just the squares, one at a time, as a cleaning cloth. My mother swore by ours, by the time they are demoted to cleaning, they are lint free and a good size!
One neutral thing today was giving a lovely green Seasalt cardigan to a friend, I had it from a charity shop last summer, but it just doesn't really fit me well. Such a shame, it's gorgeous organic cotton. I was pleased that she liked it, and that I'd got an extra item out, but then bought a cotton hoodie in Sainsbury's, in the same colour. This was a bit of a weak moment, and the 25% off encouraged me.
Something else I am going to try, which I remember from a blog some years ago, is to do a little task each day, the sort that's often overlooked, e.g. wiping the top of all the door architraves, and the tops of the doors themselves. I'll do that one tomorrow, and try and think up some more for the week. The blog actually gave the task of the day, but it's going back too long for me to remember them.0 -
Hi Everybody! :hello: Everyone seems to be getting on really well. Molillie and parsniphead – You’ve both made a really good start.
Today I’ve been taking things at a more leisurely pace, but have done surprisingly well weight-wise. Yesterday I sorted a pile of DD’s hot climate clothes, today it was cold weather items. I unloaded, sorted and vacuum-packed a suitcase of garments and some stray craft items/fabric/patterns etc. I’ve also stored away the suitcase and rucksack the stuff was in.
DD’s Winter clothing (vacuum-packed and stored), 17.5lbs
Craft items, 7.25lbs
Suitcase & rucksack. 15.5lbs
Totals
Day’s Total 40.25lbs

Welcome newbies to the thread :rotfl: & aren’t you doing well :T
I am back home but unable to sleep due to a heavy cold & chesty cough
The last of the French decluttering is as follows:-
F2934 - F2950 Various items packed in car (& still in car:rotfl:) as we didn’t get home until nearly 9 p.m.
F2951 - F3000 Being ‘generous’ with my numbers here :rotfl: items left for new owners incl. crockery, vases, cleaning products, sheets, bits of furniture, kettles, toaster, microwave & a tabletop oven/grill & a shed full of paint, tools etc & a full wood store :rotfl:
SO, THAT IS IT!
We left Wednesday 2 p.m. - just the two hours later than intended- in a heatwave, followed by a couple of heavy showers
, drove to Tours, checked in to Campanile & managed dinner. I was the only one of the three of us who enjoyed my dinner - all I could eat from salad buffet & dessert buffet :T Both DSis’s & DH’s steaks were tasteless, the chips were nothing special & their ice cream sundaes were two balls of ice cream
Got up in time for breakfast & left in the sunshine about 10 a.m. Another glorious morning & early afternoon& then the problems  Stopped at a motorway services, had something to eat & drink went to leave & got stuck on the services exit road as a truck cab caught fire  Delayed for an hour in the heat
but then were finally let out on the emergency road (good thing was that we handed in our motorway tickets & got new ones which resulted in a cheaper toll :rotfl: Delayed round Rouen & then the heavens opened with lots of lightning & visibility down to two feet  My poor DH was on his motorbike so was not a happy bunny
Missed our check-in time at the Tunnel & had to wait 45 mins for the next train :mad:supposed to be every 20-30 minsAnyway finally got home just before 9 p.m.
There is stuff everywherenot just the designated space & DH couldn’t put his bike in the garage
Couple of items brought in but the rest left in car or bike for tomorrow
Chinese food delivery for dinner - DSis & I have los
I had a bit of a hissy fit about the state of my kitchenthen got on with it - tidied up, did the washing up after dinner & now just have to put DSis’s microwave (with a French plug ) in the loft as it is taking up half my limited work top
Sitting here on my new sofa drinking Beechams & am about to write a shopping list + a ‘To Do’ list. Then I will get dressed & as the saying goes ‘I will put my big girl’s knickers on :rotfl:’ & get cracking :rotfl:
So, back to my count
B342 Bin bag fitted into wheelie bin & various bits binned

Today, another bag of clothes for the charity shop, including a formal black jacket which I haven't worn for ages, apart from a couple of funerals, which I think is what put me off it. I've put in my old hoodie, as I bought a new one yesterday. I was almost surgically attached to this, loving its colour and quality, but it is some years old, and getting a bit shabby. The other items were still in the low-hanging fruit category, and fairly easy to put in. I'll also do a bag of spare crockery during lunch, as I'm at home for this today.
I'm amazed at how you people with a long streak keep going. It is very inspirational.
Tonight: attack the cube storage shelf. I've forgotten what's in some of the baskets, I'm ashamed to say. Do at least one. (2 and 3 out)0 -
Didn’t get dressed but went to bed at 8.00 a.m.& after 15 minutes of coughingwas so exhausted that I slept fora whole 3 hours :T:T Felt slightly better when I woke up & felt even better when DH :A made me a cuppa - I have just been pootling about
Two loads of washing done, one load partially dry but the other load still very damp:(
B344 - B345 Two inches of shredding done
B346 - B348 Three inches of paper/Envelopes - RECYCLED
B349 Picture decluttered to DSis :rotfl:
B350 - B351 Two tins of baked beans on toast decluttered to our tummies:rotfl: Tins washed & recycled
I am now about 75% through my post :T & will try to finish tonight.
Keep up the good work everyone :T

Hi All!
Isn’t it quiet on here today?
Molillie - well done. Keep it up! :T
Mrs SD – Good to see you getting back into the swing of things. But do take care of yourself and don’t push too hard.
Today’s been one of those unsatisfactory, demoralising kind of days. My computer suddenly went haywire and I’ve spent almost all day faffing around trying to put it right. £$%%&* firewalls! Still no car. It needed something else doing to it, so should be ready for pick up on Monday. If only I could count the decluttered £s as lbs... _pale_
So my decluttering efforts, such as they were, consisted mostly of puttering about trying not to merely move stuff about. Anyway, a few bits and pieces shifted adding a paltry amount to the total. Still, every little helps.
Recycling, 1.5lbs
Old Towels to SSPCA, 3lbs
Scaffy trousers to bin, 1lb
Totals
Day’s Total 5.5lbs
Running total 729lbs

If you were shedding weight & got rid of 5.5 lbs in a day you would be ecstatic :rotfl: The fact that you are still getting rid of stuff is a testament to your determination to be rid :T
