Lack of warm water?

Curious about this folks as never had this issue in any other the previous 4 houses we've lived in.

Basically, our heat comes on 1hr in morning, 2 hrs at night, it also heats the water at the same time. Now for example, my son had a bath last night after the heat came on, I went for a shower this morning after the heat came on, the shower was only slightly warm. that was after 1hr heating water.

1hr heating water won't give you enough for a warm bath, it takes 2 hrs minimum and that's only 1 bath. 1 hr won't even give you a good hot shower.

Its basically a new house, only built 2015. Any ideas?

How is the place heated, how is the hot water heated. Have you got a hot water tank and gas boiler

If the boiler is trying to heat the house at the same time as the hot water then it will take a lot longer for either the heating or the hot water to come up to temperature especially at this time of the year when the incoming water is very cold and so is the house.

You need to give some more info on what controls you've got (timer, room stat, tank stat, diverter valve etc).

Try turning the hot water on for an hour before the heating comes on.

Ah sorry, Oil heated with a condensing boiler, we have a hot water tank in the hot press. We have 2 thermostats in the house both set at 25c. Our timer only has 1 clock so can't set separate times for heat and water, both have to come on same time if set via the timer.

I'm guessing then that you need to have it on a bit longer especially if someone has drained all the hot water out of the tank to have a bath the previous night.

Most tanks will take 2-3 hours to heat from stone cold even with an immersion heater. Sharing the boiler output between the tank and the heating system will take even longer.

Have you considered moving again?
I mean, this seems to be the 5th property, and the first time you've had this issue. Maybe you got a bad 'un this time?
Statistically, if you move again, you should find all is good again.

That sounds like fun in the middle of summer when it's 35C.

Make sure you move before it starts getting too warm!
